ya.Β  I met the current owner. hey bought the land to farm, and it included the house, but they did not need a house so it will deteriorate.Β  They were kind enough to let me go inside and take some pictures though.

Too bad.. that place looks like it could be fixed well

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WayneBenedet In reply to davincipoppalag [2016-03-01 03:50:57 +0000 UTC]

At that time I think it was still fixable. Β I really love those old stone and or brick houses, and I am always tempted, but their locations are such that they are always impractical.

thanks Brian,

I think it is happening all over North America as farms get bigger and bigger and as the family far disappears.

Wow what a beautiful house. I like how the brick has a yellow color to them. Down here that never happens

WayneBenedet In reply to tterrag7991 [2011-05-12 01:43:22 +0000 UTC]

It is the processing Garrett, I used a method that I rarely use and that created some of the colours.

Oh wow... I wish I could go rescue it tho... would be a wonderful home to fix up and renovate to its time... but ... I am a poor woman and live in Texas so that isn't happening. I bet there are a ton of stories in that farm house!

WayneBenedet In reply to cybelemoon [2011-05-07 17:16:01 +0000 UTC]

at this pint it could probably be livable. There is even a pond out back that would be great for trout.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WayneBenedet In reply to focallength [2011-05-07 04:02:10 +0000 UTC]

this one is pretty far from where I live, but the reasons are the same... family farms are dying and large corporate farms are taking over the land. House sits are just left.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

focallength In reply to WayneBenedet [2011-05-07 04:14:18 +0000 UTC]

Okay. Sounds kind of like what's happening here. In some places, the towns are dying since all the young people left for better paying jobs in urban areas and the farmers are selling to get enough to retire on.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WayneBenedet In reply to focallength [2011-05-07 14:37:30 +0000 UTC]

I think it is probably very similar across north america.

You're probably right. There are a lot of small towns in the Midwest that are vanishing
