Description This idea of this image is peace vs. war between woman and man.

The inspiration for this came from a National Geographic book in which there is an image of a transvestite performing in a cabaret in Thailand. The photographer of that image was Jodi Cobb.
I imitated the make up style, but the political part is completely my own.

There are theories that because women are nurturing and “peaceful” creatures, that if a woman where President, there would be more peace, less war, and that perhaps the Iraq war might not have happened. Those are just theories.
There are theories that because men take interest in violence and tend to have harsher natures than women, that there is more war in this world.
Either way it doesn’t matter. The opinion of the image, and mine are the same: neutral.
The right side of the face is representative of a man’s face; the left, a woman’s. The shirt is unisex, either one could have been wearing the shirt.
The woman is holding the Pace (peace) flag that was seen all over the world in response to the Iraq war.
The man is holding the American flag.

*Try holding your hand over one side of the model to see the female, and then vice versa so you can see the image of the man.

Technical: Pace and American flags; make up; girl; 1 hour; white shirt; levels, border, watermarks in PS7.
My white balance was set so the image looked more blue than tungsten, so that’s why the shirt looks bluer than the background.

Oh... a shot at my spelling. Yes way to make fun of the guy with the learning disabilaty.

And do I sound like I havnt resurched? Oh so I missed a righter, and why should I care who she was? Doesnt make her right. A person of great deed is not always right, nore am I always right. I call them as I see them pure and simple. If I disagree with something I fail to see how who said it should matter.

To much to resurch and not enough time. I deal in consepts not in facts, I spend my time resurching philosophy. I am not wrong in what I say, this I know, I will back it up with all the zeal and conviction I can muster. As for resurch, your right I havnt done as much as I should, but I think expecting me to know one quote from one philosopher is a bit much, it would be like me asking you to know who said, "So go ahaid and call me an ass hole, beacause I accept responciblaty for what I've done, but not for what I am."

"Btw, everything..absolutely everything matters. You have the luxury of youth and arrogance. I don't. Nor do i have the time. I expect nothing short of greatness from those who voice an opinion."

Agreed. If I did not beleave that everything matters I would not live with such zeal. I am very young and arrogent, but I dont think it;s needed to live this way, asking me in 20 years and I'll know for sure. And I expect nothing short of greatness from myself, every time I fall short of this I fail myself. But I will always try for it.

No, I'm not making a shot at you. I simply believe if you have enough passion to argue so vehemently on any given subject, you should also research your opinions and ideals. I do, so why should I hold you to a lesser regard? I won't..there are no free rides on my train, sweetness.
Btw, everything..absolutely everything matters. You have the luxury of youth and arrogance. I don't. Nor do i have the time. I expect nothing short of greatness from those who voice an opinion.

Wow, hunny! I did the hand thing.. and I could definitely see both of them. The amount of effort of this piece is just beyond words. A definite fav for an artist who never lets me down!

nice colors and intereting idea for sure. ti would like the subject moved up, in other words more of the body/flags and less space above. well, less space above anyway. but the make up and all really are right on.

*greetings from a neutral and peaceful country with a female president*

oh! this is absolutly great!
i love how you worked the idea from the magazine, and never thought in this termos of woman(peace) vs man(war), not to turn bigger the dfferences betwenn each other or to create some kind of 'sex' hate, but the truth is that along history women have been 'smoothed' apart taking always a secundary part. and is scientific that man are more rough and have more tendency to be overcare about their 'property' and so more turn to war..
well i think this would be perfect to that magazine article you read!!
very simple and direct!!
congrats!great concept!

Wow. Such a solid image. I like the idea and discussion, to be honest its something I think, that women are less violent, and things may not be the way they are if a woman was in hcarge but then again. A woman wouldnt be in charge if you take that stereo type that they are less agressive. For the reason men are in charge is because they are more agressive and fight for that position. So you cant have both. I do think woman is somewhat destined to inherit the earth though. If you have one woman and one hundred men, how many babies can you make? If you have one man and one hundred women how many babies can you make? That travis video was right! Am I the only male femenist? Hahaha.
So well done. I have to say I still don't like these big borders you're using but I like the technical side! Where did you get the flags? I like your adaptation of yourself and your body to express yourself.

I'm a male femanist, I stand for nothing short of equalaty. This them and us mentalaty, this us Vs them is dangerus. Women will not inherit the earth, neather shall men. The earth lies only to humanaty. This idea that men and women stand as seperet entaities holds us back and drags us down, it demeans and destroys the whole. And if you think woman are less violent then men you havnt met the woman I have.

I see. But while equality is a nice idea its never possible, not completely. Not until we turn into a brave new world.

Well, if a woman punches a man, can a man punch her back?

If it is such a nice idea then why not strive for it rather then burry yourself in hatefull old ways that hold back Humanaty?
