Alan is still brooding about the strange results of the ritual, Anna is struggling with her greed, altough she doesn't know what she is craving for (or she denies it… who knows?).

The lines of Milly are horizontal, because she brings balance to the story and supports Alan.

Anna's lines are vertical, because she is falling into a pit of despair.

Alan's lines are tilted/diagonal… he is connected to both of them. In my mother tongue we say that "something is tilted" (Ist ja schräg.), if we find situations bizarre. This is what he is feeling: How could things turn out so strangely? Maybe it finally dawns on him what he is ought to do… So his panel contains a double pun.
