haha yeah a bit to much detail sometimes than is needed, some is too small you can't see it. Should have been a bit more suggestive with some of the detail.

It's good to hear you prefer this style, as this was the style I was going to be working with for next year lol.
This piece and the similar styled porta-hut are what I want to continue with in terms of style.
More influenced by japanese illustrators Koji Morimoto and Tatsuyuki Tanaka.

Thanks man I appreciate it - and it's good to hear from you.

I didn’t want to make a film having to rely on good art – but it takes a bit of courage I think to try that, and I ran back to creating pretty pictures. I want to make changes to it so that if the pictures were bad, it would still work.
Seemed to have forgot my preferences over the simpler flash animations I used to watch.

Getting your message felt very nostalgic - memories of the newgrounds forums and people requesting us to draw them and such.

Strange to think drawing people on forums and watching the newgrounds community create such amazing little animations - made we want to pursue onto an animation course.

Just finished my second year of study.
1 year left - so I'll be making my own film over the next year, which is what this background is for (I'll start uploading some more stuff on it)

However this past year I've been an animator on another graduation film - that's finished now so you'll be able to see the work I did for that very soon.

They have a website for the film at - [link] - they don't have the finished film on there yet - just a lot of concept and rough animation - should be on there soon though.

I might upload the various shots I animated for that film onto this account (or most probably just my website)



Have you been up to much yourself? To you still have a strong desire to create films? I remember your course study didn't really incorporate it much, so it must be hard to find the time to do it.

I’d love to just take a break from this highly intense and ‘accurate’ way of animating and film-making we do here, and just create a nice little flash animation I can enjoy and take my time over.
Working on a graduation animation this past year was so much work and incredibly stressful.

Woa thats awesome man. Im glad you are still alive and doing what you are bloody good at. Your art is amazing.
The passion really shines off of it. Really, i have nothing against people who can draw amazingly and who can animate in a proper manner. I have nothing but the deepest respect for original movies as spirited away or the iron giant. The thing that annoys me in some people is that they are so focused on drawing in the 'correct' traditional manner, that they leave out any room for their honest personal development. It's like a state of mind that thinks: 'Well i can draw at a Cartoon Network level so i deserve respect'. To me, drawings that are well made but lack any form of personal discovery or opinion are as soulless as an empty canvas. I really admire your work though because you do not only have the means to visualise whatever you want, but the creativity to guide it to where you want it, if you know what i mean.
I thought i read a blog by you a while ago that you were in asia. I might be wrong, but when i look in your drawings now, there is this great combination between western and asian technique.
Anyway, I'm doing pretty swell. Mostly focussing on university, which i love, but i'm trying to pick up animating again too in my spare time. Still working on the same project which is close to being finished, It just needs that last push. Like you, i have this desire to do some simple stuff again, so after this project i will do just that. Maybe I start painting again, i dont know.
