You could also call this a Wall Breach - I'm sure the word is cognate to "break" anyway, but it's used more for these deliberate attacks on fortifications. If you look at old accounts of wars, people are always trying to breach the walls; people within are trying to defend the breach, etc.


English has a ridiculous number of slight variations left over from all those regional dialects, doesn't it!
