I love the blowback motion. Really brings it to life.

Thanks! With this project in general I'm really trying to focus on improving the weight of my animations to have it feel nicer!

This does a good job. I couldn't do better myself. I was reading an article about that by an animator about the micro movements that happen independent of points of action, like hair and clothing, and you did that really well here as far as my untrained eye can tell.

There's a ton of great resources & awesome extra animation like that. The large of it is to make sure you're implying the movement from secondary sources. Though speaking of good concepts on movement, one of the animators on Skullgirls did a nice talk at GDC some years back & it's a pretty good watch:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mw0h9Wβ¦

Ooooooo crap I'd never seen that. Thanks!! I always get too invested in the immediate composition. Like "But I drew his collar PERFEECT I don't wanna have to flip it for dramatic effeeeect..."

This is one of those things they call BIG MOOD, haha!
As long as you have some strong keyframes it'll largely go unnoticed if something is awry for an in-between anyway so I try my best to let it go a little, haha.

Gosh thanks a ton, I'm always trying to tweak my style & push myself a little farther for each project in one way or another. This game has definitely been a focus of color separation & getting some extra monstrous designs. We should have quite a bit more to show pretty soon as we gear up for a demo & a kickstarter.
Funny thing you mention the gun stance, it's actually based on a popular shooting stance, the weaver stance.

Sometimes I think there's a mix between uncanny valley and realism where appropriate. Like sometimes technical limitations only lend to certain things being available or where it doesn't matter as much due to the non-realistic vision of things. But at the same time it's nice to pick up on something more grounded in reality & appreciate the little details. :3
I give ya a lot of credit for using a handgun, pistols always make me feel uneasy and less safe. I was always more comfortable firing rifles for one reason or another.

Oh man, I've heard airsoft is a ton of fun! It's true, sometimes simply handling the gear and tech gives you the inspiration to work with it in your creations. I admit: we have this two-handed framing tool , and every time I hold it I go ".....scifi weapon. gotta remember this". Hahaha!
