It wouldn't have been as bad if the sequel played better or was a little more fun I guess? At least it was super pretty!
We always threw around the idea of doing a spiritual sequel but the concepts around making an advanced version of the building sequence is a tough-to-concept task.

Pretty indeed! But alas, without the god building, I couldn't suffer the sequel.
I like the rumblings of a spritual successor, but I ask - Why make an advanced version?
Imagine - in this day and age of mobile paired games, you've got a simpler Sim component like Fallout Shelter, then a full desktop experience like... Well... Fallout.
Also - what does Actraiser even mean? It's one of those names that, as a youth, I thought was dummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmb,
but then it turned out to be the name of a game I really enjoyed.
Except for the last level boss gauntlet.
That was weak.
If anything, the bosses should have returned and attacked their villages and you have to fight newer versions of them on their home turf.

Yeah, I mean you could just play Skyblazer or Demon's Crest if you want pretty and fun to play!
Honestly when looking back at Actraiser, it's a good game but neither component on their own is all that fleshed out. If I'm going to put in an immense amount of time into making a spiritual successor to anything, it's gotta be better in at least some way. It doesn't have to be more complex persay, just more streamlined & fun.
All of that era Quintet games had weird names but were super fun games.

Demon's Crest is one of those games I kind of knew the name of as a youth, but only discovered it as an adult, but still haven't played it, only drooled over it's sprites.
Some day, methinks... Some day....
For, if playing my backlog is as speed as replying to DeviantArt mesgs, I'll be done in no time!

I've been trying to take some time on breaks to do little gameplay sessions on my backlog collection / things I always wanted to play but never did. It's been a worthwhile adventure, I just finished Monster World 4 and that was a delight!

Holy crap, I don't know how I acknowledged the "simply unfun sim& monster shakin' " but never replied or checked out Monster World 4 - it does indeed look like a delight!

Excellent - I'm not happy that Sega did a stinky spiritual successor, but I'm glad to know the cosmos is keeping a spot open for our glorious remake!
Since I never owned a Genesis, I'd be really into having a mini of it with that curvy 6 button beast of a controller I'd make up some unfinished business.
This mesg is just a freak occurrence, talk to you next year!
