Whew... This one took a while, but I really enjoyed working on some of the Fallout crossovers. A commission for to later be turned into a poster. If you don't know this is Blackjack from Project Horizons. She's been through some shit to say the least. At this point though, her troubles have only begun. Might have to read the whole fic someday. If I get pics of the irl poster I will be sure to post them. On to moar commishes!Related content

so will it be sold, or will we just have to go to a print shop?, if so i think you could charge for the high rez download. (like a pay for one time print "rights", if you know what i mean [unless that goes against the commission parameters])

You nailed the dystopian atmosphere so well. I really want to see what you could with a pony Half-Life2 theme since it falls nicely into this work.

If you do read the fix set aside a couple months worth of reading time if you're not a super fast reader, it's depressingly addictive... to put a description to it. I dunno I like somber's story a lot.

Seriously! A good Project Horizons piece? These things are rare!
But since I'm nitpicky, here comes my rant!
1.) Blackjack's eyes should be more glow-y. They're cybernetic.
2.) Blackjack's horn is reputably tiny compact (i.e. the horn in this image is way too big)
3.) While Ante Up is a good title for any Blackjack piece, it has no place here. Yes, there is the graffiti, but that wouldn't be there. More than likely, the graffiti would say "Hoofington Rises!" or something like that. Ante Up refers to when Blackjack has to go big or go home on her actions (e.g. either execute a rapist or let him/her walk free).
4.) The atmosphere in this is fantastic (for me, it's what makes this piece fantastic), but there's no way you could see the top of Shadowbolt Tower from the ground... at least not without Thunderhead being visible. Also, the atmosphere would have less of a dusty tone, at least over the Core, and more of a sinister green tone.
Overall, 4.5/5, with the lost half-point due to nitpicky inaccuracies that are quite possibly specifics requested by the commissioner.

I was given three reference images of bj and told to include a urban-post apocalyptic background as well as the words "ante up" somewhere in the drawing. If there is any semblance of the canon from the story in her design or in the background it is completely on accident. It's not like I read all of project horizons for just this one commission and took notes along the way. I am glad that, overall, you like it.

If you're gonna be an ass about it, might I point out that due to Enervation, there probably wouldn't be any grass. I didn't point this out earlier because this pic would feel... lacking without it.

Now now, let's not be hasty. Just curious, what is Enervation and where does it originate? I couldn't seem to find it online.

Enervation is... death radiation... evil space-Cthulu soul-ripping magic... stuff (it honestly hasn't entirely been described yet, and it's implied that what it is is actually a massive plot-twist). It is implied that it originates from the Eater of Souls and is strengthened by death and weakened by harmony. It's pointed out repeatedly in the book that areas of low Enervation also correspond with areas of high plant growth, particularly in the bog near the university, Chapel, and the Arena, to name a few places. On the flip side, a single spike in Enervation (one that lasts for seconds, at best) kills a huge area of crops instantaneously.

That whole chapter is a bit too ugly for video games, but that scene in particular... *shudders*
Since rape (and not just literal rape, but metaphorical rape) is the primary motif of Project Horizons, it'd be tough to make it into a game.

Oh, and you may want to read a little about "Fallout Equestria: Heroes" and "Fallout Equestria: Pink Eyes", I have spotted references to them near book five of Horizons.
Don't worry about Pink Eyes, it is one of the shortest Fallout Equestria stories, not to mention, one that is not even mature rated. You can find both Heroes and Pink Eyes on fimfiction.
The references to them are nothing major, it just makes things seem to be affecting the whole continent. I think there may have been references to other stories that late, but if there have, I have not read them then.
