I made this bear after have a great discussion in my Native Studies class. This to me is a political statement for all; they use these mindless bears as was to donate to the causes of what the Europeans did to the First Nation’s community. This doesn’t make it better, so I took home my teacher’s bear that had the blanket on as a scarf and made it have smallpox’s to make a statement. Some may not agree with the approach I took but I love it! This was my first statement piece, political statement too. I hope you all get the meaning behind it.
