This is from the original SNES continuity, no less.
For a moment I was thinking of a possibility for Nintendo to revive that continuity -- a continuity without Krystal -- and see where it leads to as compared to the 64 canon. It seems unlikely that Nintendo would make that into consideration, though... :-/

I must confess, I saw this and immediately went and looked up the original plot (as purveyed by the 1992 comic).
This pic alone birthed in my mind a grittier, more romanticized version of the story, touching upon more complex concerns and emotions, as well as adding some drama and bloodshed. I may write it up, expand the scope of things a touch. Anticipated rating is PG/MA.
It's like the tenth thing I've looked at and said "I could write that better..." Hum.
Amazing how one image can start such mad chain reactions in the old brain, huh?

Wow this is so amazing, I absolutely love it. Everything looks so dramatic, the shading and the composition and everything. The faces are so expressive too, especially Fox's. The whole thing is so awesome! XD

No doubt that this is probably the most incredibly detailed work you've done so far. The stars make the image so realistic and the emotions on their faces is deep, really deep. Considering when one looks at the background for the fact that Fox and his friends were exiled because they knew Andross was a threat and that the Cornerian government was too scared to admit the truth. And yes, the days when they wore tattered cloaks and were viewed as outlaws and pirates by the Venom Empire. Heck, it's like taking the first original work, from the SNES game box cover, of the Star Fox team standing together and gazing into the stars. A brilliant remake, so to speak.
