Description Another shot from my lone photo shoot the other day. I enjoy the quality in a photograph when the body basically becomes a shape with and expression. Hope you enjoy. -Develon

i really like the muscle definition, how it's smooth and even and lit in such a way it nothing looks too harshly contrasted or overshadowed. i'd like to use this to practice sketching back muscles, i've never been very good at them.

beautiful. I love the pose, not something seen very often, shows the musculature in the back wonderfully

i greeks would have loved you. i wonder how this would look in sepia? i dont know it just says try sepia to me. very good light on the muscels. nice midtones. i think the sheet really adds to the whole. i see a similar way here, in that the sheet is smooth, and the wrinkles are so nicely shown with your lighting. just like your back, smooth with muscles taut. i dont know, perhaps i am looking askuu.

kind of funny. a forum topic was nude women vs. nude males, mainly their nanny parts. i thought of your photos and your perspectives.
appearntly we see more vagina than penis on this site. i myself have yet to see one, and i dont plan on looking for one. though i feel there is a good point brought up. what is your take?

You might want to check the shot out again. It actually IS in sepia. As for the male vs female nude argument, I think there's an obvious uneven ratio when it comes to what people post and what people view and that's based on popular culture.

Finally some great male nude on DA, I love the 'shapey', almost grphic like clearness of it and the sedude lighting.

Thanks. I'm very dissapointed in the general male nude presenations as well. Not only in the sense of their quality but also, on the other end of the argument, the attention they get. The quality of a male nude image has to be 4 times better than one of a female just to get the same recognition. You could easily take a snapshot with a disposable camera of a female sitting naked on a bed without regard for composition, lighting, or artistic direction and watch it praised by this immediate audience. I would like to see the creative backbone present in the male nude images to bring attention to the un-tapped unconvential beauty. Thank you for viewing and commenting.

I agree wih you Develon, seems (also in magazins) to be an over-presentation of the female features in any way possible, but there is few (good)male pieces.

I pretty much like the works of David E. Armstrong (greatly represented in 'Rare Flesh') and would love to guide my own photographic work in that direction, although I have only started taking nudes of a friend of mine (female) last autumn. But then again it seems hard to find models.
You of course can hire a pro but that's first expensive and secondly less 'potential' as in recoverable depth of personality, if you understand my poor attempts of explaination in English.

greets, Tobias

Yes, I can relate. I usually end up posing for my own fine art nude work due to the difficultly in finding anyone comfortable enough with themselves to work in the genre. It's easy to get someone to pose for a cookie-cutter portrait, but alot of my fresh ideas go unexplored because of the search. I hope that when I get back to the states, it's easier to find other people to work with.

Sounds kool to me and good light for all your work.

I have had nudes taken of me in 2004 which a photo-friend mine excecuted (is that the expression?) but they end up too gloomy and darkish.
We hadn't had the possibilities of working with a proper lighting.
Although I got us 'booked in' to a small theatre room at a friends house (he works as a carpenter - his definition lol - a print artist in the cellar and 1st floor of his house and she used to play at the opera and now runs her own small theatre as director and actress) we couldn't change lights cause they would have performed this night and the lights set.

So if I may ask what sort of equipment do you use?

We studio work I use a few flood and strobe lights that I purchased last semester during a quality of light coarse that I took. I have a few 45w strobes. 2 250w photoflood lamps and a 350w alienbee strobe lamp with umbrellas and reflectors.

Wow, sounds much like you're on the professional way to fame (and I know you even before the press does lol )

I had a photoflood lamp (energy saver bulp equivalent of 150w in common light bulbs) and a fitting tripod given to me as a wished present this xmas, also plan on buying a 'flat soft' flash. As of always that is but a matter of finance and my painter materials come first. So I am bound to try my best with what I can get.

Your equipment sounds great and professional plus you do know how to use it more than well .
