Creature Description: Tricksters are unusual creatures that are capable of transporting others into a dimension of their own control. Like lucid dreamers, they're capable of controlling anything in their small dimension, which is often not larger than the size of a large room.

Jacques is a strange creature with a delight for anything that involves gambling or competition. He will never, ever back down from something, even if he knows that he'll lose. His obsession with wine leaves him lush most of the time, and as a result he tends to be... a bit more loose with the tongue than he really should be. He can be quite comical, but don't take his game-making abilities for granted--he can severely hurt someone in his games if you don't force him to agree to rules that protect you from harm. His tendency to have tunnel vision for games makes him a tough companion to have as he doesn't always have the best grasp on empathy, but there could be some good in there, mixed with all the wine.
History:
Jacques was born around the same time Helmy Moritz was, in a mysterious realm called the Mirror Realm, a reflection of the world commonly inhabited by people. Though he is technically a reflection, having been born in the alternate world, he has no counterpart, and thus has his entire soul to himself. His ability to move back and forth between the real world and the alternate mirror world was a benefit for him, but he soon found himself seeking better pastures and wandered off. He eventually ended up in France, after chasing the possibility that he might be related to someone there, as he didn't appear to have any family or relatives in his strange dimension back home. Eventually, France became his home, though he bounced between Nice, Paris, and Marseille a number of times.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, he didn't entirely fit in. The magic community there accepted him, but he always had a feeling that he was a little too different for the people on this side of the dimensional rift between reality and mirror, and eventually he found himself wondering... did his childhood home still exist? Or maybe there could be other portals into the world where he'd grown up?
After an interesting encounter with an alternate room portal in Lyon, he entered the alternate room from France and found himself surrounded by a number of... well, unusual individuals, including some that he recognized from childhood. He popped out of the alternate room in the academy had brief interactions with those who'd lived in his childhood home of the mirror room, though none of the seemed to remember him. At twenty-five, he didn't have any interest in enrolling in a school (besides, everyone looked so young?), so he ended up settling in New Elsa. He opened a general store and has been running it for a few years, though his true calling is to create a casino. Maybe if he earns a little more money first he can make that dream come true. After all, no one takes Euros.
