Heraclius (c.575-641)
Was the Eastern Roman emperor from 610 to 641, taking power after deposing Emperor Phocas. His reign was marked by several military campaigns, reconquering lands taken by the Sasanian Persians but soon losing them to the emerging Rashidun Caliphate.
According to arabic tradition he converted to islam in secret as to avoing a rebellion by the christian population and his nobility.
He also tried to unite Christianity by encouraging monothelitism, which ended up backfiring pretty badly. He also married his niece, resulting in a lot of deformed children, a lot of political backlash and a conflict between his incest kids and his non incest kids
