Oh, Vihma!!! We've all missed you so!
While I've never been a particular fan of the freckles, I just love the way you draw this Erik. He's like Charles Dance Erik, combined with Leroux, and then a style that's just your own, completely unique.
*Sigh* He's just so dapper. And you're absolutely right with your theory on the meticulous care he puts into his appearance. I think it's not just a subjective supposition, it's true to Erik himself in all his best versions.
You should read a phanfiction called "The Opera Ghost Unravelled." It's about the stage Phantom (Andrew Lloyd Webber) and Christine, and it is without a doubt one of the BEST phanfictions ever created for those characters. (What you said reminded me of it; Erik is very much of the same opinion in it-even if he never admits it.) It's stupendously well written, angsty and romantic, and it gets right down to the heart of the characters. It's so true to the original and takes a path so feasible, you wonder why it couldn't have gone THIS way instead. You get lost in it!
...My apologies for rambling. It's just such a fantastic and soul-sweeping story, I want all my favorite people to read and fall in love with it!
Aside from that, I wanted to say that the style you used here was really pleasing and impressive. (I LOOOVE the inky shadows!) I hope you use it again, and often.

(I'm relieved you don't resent me for my freckle hatred ^^)
Oh! Oh! If you like Leroux..... Try "Destruction of Obsession!" Really delves into the darkness of the story's events, gets to the center of things, and brings it all together beautifully----
No. Nope, I can't do it. I just can't describe how awesome that story is.
I mean, Unraveled is definitely one of the best stage phantom phics out there, but THIS.... Leroux HIMSELF would applaud. You'd love it!!!
(Forewarning: it explores the marriage of Erik and Christine had he never released her after the scorpion [oh my Lord, it's so awesome TuT] and it does go into, shall I say, the marital doings of those two. Not quite as provocative as your "In Flagranti," but it's true to the pair, and it's really sweet and splendidly written...and stuff.... Just saying....

(So cool you read it too ^^)
Yeah, I did like "Destruction" better really, but I thought it was just me and just because it was based right off of the original story.
But hey, have you read her other? "A Nymph Without Mercy?" It's AWESOME! It's set in medieval times, and Christine's a nymph! (You like nymph-y elven-y stuff, right?) I was skeptical at first because of how different it sounded, but it was a wonderful, fulfilling, captivating story!
WHOA. I JUST-BOOM-IDEA. If YOU drew stuff from that story... Wooooooow, that would be cool... I mean, I've seen your fantasy art! ...'Twould be cool.... Not that I'm saying: "DO EEET 0__0 " or anything.

Kay gives the same idea in Phantom. I imagine that this is also the result of his perfectionism, he tries to make perfect all that he is able to control.
Wonderful drawing and ginger Erik =
