!@#$ Alistair ... just... doesn't... get it! But, I can TOTALLY believe this happening. The honeymoon is over. "Happily Ever After," meet cold, harsh reality.
LOVE how you presented this. The monochrome is perfect for the gloom of night flashbacks.

Indeed. It's kind of heavy, but hey - this has been bubbling inside me for a couple of years now. The things you must do to achieve the happy ending... I know I couldn't live with it. XP
Heh thanks! It's also about 100 times faster than full colour XD There's gonna be another, a bit longer flashback in the next chapter - I'm already planning the palette, I think instead of monochrome a palette of two contrasting colours ^^ Mwahaha can't wait. XD

And now I kind of feel bad for both of them. >_> Happy endings are not easy, are they? A Noble girl falls in love with a bastard prince, they save a kingdom together - he becomes the King, and her, a Queen by his side. And they live happily ever after... until life and responsibilities decide for them to drift apart, and they have no other choice but to go a separate way each. ;___; I love the direction you went with it, but at the same time it makes me just so sad...

it is sad indeed, isn't it? D: But like I said to Niksche, I just had this bubbling inside me for the past couple of years. With the kind of character Victoria is and how I see Alistair, I think it was doomed to go like this, for them to realise it was a youthful folly, and now they're in trouble for it. D:

So Wynne was right in the end? >_> Heh, I wonder if they knew how it was going to end up, would they pursue their relationship anyways? Though I guess the situation then was one of a kind...

I guess she was. I always knew she meant well, even though her advice was unwelcome at the time. But THANKS for reminding me about that! D: D: I'd completely forgotten! *plans a scene with Victoria confiding in Wynne... mwahahaha* XD We'll see if I'll do that. But it's an intriguing thought.

XD

Uh... how depressing. I hate people fighting like that. But you showed it very realistic when people say things they usually would not say and nothing seems to sound right at the moment. I feel sorry for them, but not every love has happy ending and sometimes preassure is more then people can take.

I know... I hate it too. But it's also what my headcanon says happens here. X__X I especially hate the "does our love mean so little to you" argument, and I've been at the receiving end of it too. Too much of it and it will kill whatever love remained. X__X
Heh, I guess I want to just thoroughly show how the Happily Ever After isn't the only possible outcome if you marry Alistair. It can very well be, like in your story, it works wonderfully! But my heart takes me this way. X)

ahhh what does he mean by entertain. XD Oh well Victoria deserves better anyways, it seems like he cares more about making babies and doesnt even think about how it effects her knowing that she probably cant. Poor girl needs a hug and a bath to get the alistair coodies off.

Heh, nothing like THAT, I assure you. XD At least he doesn't think so XD
Anyway yeah, the thing about Alistair, well the thing I've given to him, is that he'll repeat basically anything stronger people tell him. Plus he really wants to be a good king, now that he's been given the crown. I don't think there's enough space in his head to consider Victoria's feelings, he doesn't even realise they might differ from his. Plus, of course he's shocked and hurt that Victoria didn't tell him the whole truth about the Dark Ritual.
TBH, with that whole thing looming over their heads, it requires a VERY different sort of a Cousland to keep the marriage together after that. XD

I feel so bad for the couple. Now what? Alistair was right about the heirs of course, and I feel like Victoria could have been a little more supportive of him, even if she is right about defending Amaranthine. I'm so conflicted! Love your work though! Excellent!

I think it'll have to go there eventually, to keep my creative spirit active. XD I'm glad to find support though!
Alistair had such a different upbringing from Victoria, that'll indeed cause them never to see eye to eye about these things. During the blight it was all fine and dandy, but Alistair has a LOT of growing up to do to be a good king. Then again it was a bit irresponsible of Victoria to go through with the marriage, knowing what she did. Then again she was really young (20 at the beginning of the blight) and probably truly hoped she might defeat the odds.
I read the whole chapter through today, and it still amuses me how I unconsciously or no mimick our family discussions. Eamon (like my mum) likes to state his arguments over and over again, like the discussion never happened before (because obviously it has, since Alistair is talking in his voice to Victoria). Then Alistair, like, say, well maybe more like some of my friends, is parroting the opinions and arguments of people with stronger convictions, and returns to Eamon giving him Victoria's arguments almost as his own. X) Even though he initally disagreed with her. Poor dear, he really needs to grow a spine. XD

Ha, that's if I heard myself speaking! One thing I really didn't like in DA is how Alistair is presented as the perfect king at the end (even in Gaider's comics it’s so). I consider it naïve - just to give the fans glorious happy-ever-after-sort-of-thing. I really like what Loghain says on the matter and I completely agree with him. Allow me to quote: 'He had no education in governing, politics, or diplomacy. And though I know you don't wish to hear this, he doesn't strike me as a talented amateur. Your friend may get good advice from Eamon, but he's weak. All the banns know it. You can see them, a pack of wild dogs waiting for a bone.'
Love it. Alistair truly needs to learn everything about the kingship and because his origin and childhood he'll try to stick with the 'big fish' as you've said it - I see it the same as you do.
Yeah, forming the characters according to people you know is quite normal - and necessary, I suppose . It only makes them more real and you can depict their fairer and weaker sides, both, more accurately.
Heeee for your mum! I think your mum and my mum would understand each other. xD And I noticed the repetition of the argument (of course I did x)) - because it’s a memory and because Victoria said that Alistair had talked to Eamon.
