Description I don't see a lot of people trying to mimick the flowing landscape styles of Roger Dean, so this week, I decided to take a stab at it. While I have a small handful of drawings trying to get the feel of his perspective, his rock techniques, and the like, I found one particular pen work (about 6 by 3 inches in size) to do justice to him.

So I decided to paint it.

This a very vibrant piece. And it's really close to that psychedelic/surreal feel that you get from Roger Dean paintings. I like it!

Very cool and does Dean justice. Now am I the only one who can't hear Roger Dean mentioned without thinking of the joke in Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie?
"They've flown into a Roger Dean album cover." "They are very into Yes on this planet."

Absolutely not. That was one of my favorite lines from 'This Island Earth.'

Good, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I think I was the only one to get it in the theater.

The fuck is this a scrap for? Its awesome!

I love how it seems to be almost real but then you look closer and its a painting.

I demand you make this a proper deviation and not a mere scrap, as this is far from scrap standard work. This is Featured Print standard work!

That is really awesome, youve really captured the near and far detail thing, as well as the floating island thing that you can see in so much of Roger Deans artwork. Awesome.

This is gorgeous, I adore how you've captured his style and infused a lush flavor to it.

this is flippin awsome. But since critiques are open, I would reccomend maybe a little more detail in the nearground pink flowers. Poised next to the blades of grass, the flowers might need something like little speckles or spots....something along those lines. Agree? Disagree?

Wonderful evolution from a neat lineart into a such blooming view. The colours are exactly like any fantasy islands and the scenery even looks a bit like a place in some game, I can easily imagine some treasures to be hidden on those "trunks" in the water.

But really, the colouring is beautiful. I especially like the sky, it looks so real and truly makes me feel some warm wind blowing into my face. You've also done very nice work with the water and the reflections not to mention the forementioned trunks and the grass in the front, crisp and real-looking. My only critic might be that the flowers are somehow disturbing me. The colours fit and all but somehow the colouring seems to differ a lot from the other. Or then it's just me. Anyway, great work.

really beautiful and so different from your other works. I like how you did that piece of grass the best, it looks so full and long.

That's some nice texturing. I like how the colors all seem to come together, and give this an exotic yet stained-glass feel.

very exotic beautiful work, haven't seen much, if any of this style around here or anywhere come to think of it. I have to say from the few pieces I've seen from you, you seem to have a nice line art style but your drawings really come alive when you colour them, amazingly so
