The trait of generosity is abstract, as the interpretation of generosity varies between those who
attempt to possess it. Many will tie an arbitrary caveat into their own utilization of generosity, usually
a belief that their giving nature makes them more deserving of good karma, that their peers will one
day be as generous to them in return, or that they can use gifts as a substitution for being a good person.
But one's generosity is not appraised in the value of the gifts they are given, but in how far they will go
to ensure they provide what others need.
Generosity is helpful.
But generosity is not about quantity.
The real gift is the endeavor one undergoes...

I always thought that being generous doesn't make one less "selfish". It all emanates (lol I didn't make that reference to the title on purpose) to a personal will to help others. We give our all to others because we want to, true altruism doesn't exist. It's noble, but in the end, all that we do for others is for ourselves first, in a way.

In all seriousness though, I'm merely implying a very strong, caring friendship between the two. While I support any and all romance between two mature people...gay, straight, human, quadraped, or marshmallow mares...my own interpretation of Rarity and Applejack doesn't reach a romantic level. While I've been commissioned in the past to do "sexy stuff" with the two, that was merely a commission based on somebody else's interpretation; not my own. In this picture, we're merely seeing Rarity come to the end of a harsh journey where she finds something that best expresses her generosity. It's this strife and energy that embodies the true nature of generosity, the lengths one would go to find just the right thing to give another. No sexuality is intended to be expressed in this image.

I disagree. No drawing is impossible. You just have to integrate drawing into your life, and little by little, you capability will start to evolve. Drawing is not a commitment as much as it is a lifestyle choice, much in the same vein as being a gamer, a movie aficionado, or a sports fan.
The method in which you embrace this lifestyle is very similar to the others, in that it becomes a rewarding time well spent. But drawing is special in that, unlike entertainment or sport enthusiasts, they'll inevitably end up doing something others will look at and deem impossible. They just have to keep embracing that lifestyle, and over the years, instances of doing the impossible happen more often.

In the dark, there is light. Seeing Rarity in her element is indeed a moving experience. The pony that doesn't mind getting her hooves dirty has returned or perhaps keeps returning for the one thing that makes her fashion unique like her cutie mark - gems. Of course as a Steven Universe fan, the coincidence is tickling in a good way. Rarity appears to be in a contemplative mood. Not sad at all. Perhaps even inspired. Well done /)

The choice of using the apple gems seems like the most natural choice. Rarity and Applejack have the most evolved friendship of all the characters, having gone from being polar opposites disgusted with one another, into a close bond where they do a lot of things together, despite clashing from time to time.
For this friendship to work, Rarity and Applejack have to go far out of their comfort zones. But in doing so, they discover how rewarding and valuable this friendship is. If there's anyone Rarity would go the extra distance for, it's Applejack.

Although the last two of your craftings were undoubtedly superior due to the illusion that both of them created from a bunch of natural formations instead of only those conveniently placed gems/gem-shaped caves, this is still one gorgeous piece of work. The description you gave even manages to enhance the warm feeling it gives, translating this wonderful congregation of feelings into something better, something more personal.
