Description I painted this aquarelle in forest on Pohorje mountain chain where i live.
Something abaut Pogorje?
Green and winter white Pohorje which reaches a height of 1543m above sea level. This volcanic formation of an immense range of mountain mass, which in a longitudinal direction links the Alpine world in the West to the soft sub-Pannonian landscape in the East, namely goes back to ancient geological history. The first settlers, bearing a name, were the Celts. Owing to its impervious stone Pohorje is a real treasure trove of clear water, which is rare in Slovenia. Water from all over the mountainous area flows rapidly down into the valley below. In the old times the locals used the water to propel mill wheels.
With its inhabitants, who lived mainly from the forest and from charcoal making, and their culture this out of the way and secret world of Pohorje reflected as a fertile field for the nurturing of rich local mythology, fairy tales and stories. These were based on belief and superstitions from the days when the area had not been touched by the influence of Christianity. The White lady, dwarfs, witches, dog-headed people, hermits, iron knights, devil and other living forms from fairy tales and stories are in the Pohorje surroundings thought to be real people. They live deep in the dark impassable forests, in the glades and on boggy plateaux where there are numerous water holes and lakes.

This is again very very beautiful, the sun, the colours, the water, everything. And then the story about it gaves it even more perspective in my eyes. Don't know why.

The working of the light is so great in this painting, and makes the composition for me. The darker side on the right....makes it all so interesting. The blue en light green, delicious! Just great Benjamin. A fav.
