Name: Kyrago
Nickname: Demon Deer
Habitat: Coniferous forest
Colors/markings: Black & gray, usually brindle markings
Height: 4-6 ft at the shoulder
Main diet: Blood
Alternative foods: Fungi, fish & insects
Abilities: Shape-shifter, can move very fast

They're nocturnal.
They have venomous fangs and sharp incisors.
They have a single horn, large ears, a feathered tail and bird-like feet/talons.
They have a third, single-lens-bug-like eye on the forehead, which can detect infrared light/heat.

They are solitary until they find a mate. Mating pairs will mate for life and never go too far away from each other. But even with a mate though, they prefer to hunt alone. Females will lay 1-2 eggs per year each winter. The eggs hatch during spring, when there will be plenty of food. Young stay with their parents for one year.

When hunting, the Kyrago may change their shape so that they could approach their unsuspecting prey without trouble. Once they are close enough, they change back and quickly bite their victim with their fangs. The venom paralyzes the victims nervous system, making them unable to move. The Kyrago could then bite through the victim's skin and lap up the blood without having to deal with struggling.

They are feared by everyone who lives near a forest where Kyragos reside. Strangers are given wide berths, for they could very well be a Demon Deer in disguise, looking for a victim.
No one knows where they came from or how they originated; legends say that they are the children of a dark doe and a bird-demon.
