Description This is rather a cruel thing to do to an otherwise inoffensive man who has a terrible haircut.

Oh God, everything on this page seemed clever when done in pencil on Saturday morning. By Sunday evening it didn't, but by then it was inked and therefore too late.

Luke is possibly the most un-Nordic name ever but can be created by just switching out the vowels. As for the surname- well, I did some scouring of Old Norse to English dictionaries- the first two gave me nothing, and the third one gave me three different ones- engi, manngi (I think, I can't read my own writing) and vaetki, and they all have slightly different shades of meaning, but in the end I went with vaetki * because I liked the sound more. It- probably isn't quite right, so I beg your forgiveness for my error. Emo Loki is quite astonishingly emo, it appears.

Characters (c) Marvel- except Deacon. He and his terrible awful haircut are mine.

I WISH I'd known that Skywalker was a name for Loki when I wrote this, because I would definitely have made a lot of that! Oh well.

"Nobody messes with my completely unnatural yet totally there babies, b*tch!" My apologies, but I can't stop. I want to, but I can't.

Here's to Loki: dashing god, forever trickster, random prankster, proud mother and currently set on "emo mode". We love ya' Loki. Never change.

Exactly! They're HIS butterflies, and no one else gets to swat them.

I think the little switch on the back broke, so he will be forever in that particular mode.

I't kinda fun relly. I read like over a 100 fanfiction with Loki on midgar. and in every single one where he takes a "mortal" name to melt in or other thing it's always "luke". and that you chosed "væetkisson" is also prety sad for the fact it would be translated as "no-ones son". poor loki why you feel so unloved?

I'm just gonna sit here and troll for myself for the fact that I can write "vætki" on my computer

And I for some reasion has this pictuer that is the guy had wacked the butterfly the paper would have turned on fire and the buterfly would just fly away like nothing happendXD

Interesting name choice there, Loki. Very Odysseus, I thought. Luckily, though, you don't have an angry, blinded cyclops to deal with; just a stressed-out agent with a bad haircut.

Valdemar-poe [2012-02-27 18:13:42 +0000 UTC]

This page IS really clever. As the others.

Luke "son of no-one"!! Awww That made me feel like crying. I love Emo Loki, because he can be emo even being calm and serious, he has no need of crying (though he did in the movie, I wonder if you will show him crying in this comic sometime) or showing himself hysterical. We have to admit he has reasons for being sore.
And he being originally from Ice-Land!!! (when Jotunheim is a land of ice) Nice point, really. And you still say this is not clever?

And I love the runes appearing in the monitor, the effects of the god of chaos in machines are unpredictable. What do they say?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VanHinck In reply to Valdemar-poe [2012-02-28 09:56:26 +0000 UTC]

I have a suspicion that Loki will get at the very least hysterical at some point.
I dunno, there's being clever, and then there's trying to be clever and I'm never sure which I'm doing. But I need to stop going on about it and trusting myself a bit more!

Ah, well, I used a simple letter to letter translation from this chart: [link] so I leave that to you.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Valdemar-poe In reply to VanHinck [2012-02-28 20:47:05 +0000 UTC]

He will get hysterical... in these comics? Well, it will be quite worth a look.

Yeah, you should trust yourself more... you and your comics are brilliant.

And... I give up with the last word. I'm sorry, it has been quite a long day and my brains are dead right now. What is that rune that looks like a "v"? The word is 'even', maybe?

(grrr, I can't be as clever as your comics )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VanHinck In reply to Valdemar-poe [2012-02-29 09:20:54 +0000 UTC]

I hope so.... I finally have a clear idea of how to end this, and- yeah. Hysterical Loki seems like the way to go.

I am going to try and stop making every comments box an essay on 'why I hate this page'! XD

Yep, 'what is this, I don't even...' Poor computer. (The rune that looks like a v is a v- there's no rune for it in that alphabet, so I just used the Roman form, just to confuse onlookers further)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Valdemar-poe In reply to VanHinck [2012-03-02 16:54:50 +0000 UTC]

Has to happen something really awful for making Loki hysterical.

Hahaha, do what you want and complain as much as you want. Loki does.

Aha, so I was right then (thank goodness). I wonder if anything that Loki breaks just being near does later fixes itself when he goes away. If not, yeah, Agent Deacon can say goodbye to his poor computer...

They are going to be so wired when any action is required of them.

(If I'd put more thought into this, there would have been much more background on the base and cetera, but I didn't think I'd need it- so it makes it look like there's three people in the whole base and one of them's illegal.)

I spent a while trying to find if there was a way in the Norse naming system that could be used to designate a bastard (very carefully putting that into Google!) but there didn't seem to be anything, so emo!Loki it is

VergofTowels In reply to VanHinck [2012-02-28 12:37:53 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I would have liked it the other way, too. I'm actually a bit surprised that there isn't a way to indicate that...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VanHinck In reply to VergofTowels [2012-02-28 13:22:25 +0000 UTC]

Werl, if we're being strictly accurate, it would be to take the mother's name rather than the father's- but going by Marvel!Movieverse, Loki may not know his mothers name. Unless of course you mix up Marvel and mythology and use the fact that Laufey in myth is Loki's mother, in which case Laufeysson is accurate, (but misses an opportunity for Loki to emo...)

Why yes I did put way too much thought into this!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VergofTowels In reply to VanHinck [2012-02-28 18:23:40 +0000 UTC]

I enjoy how much thought you've put into it! I love to research finicky things as well. Everything is so much better when based in fact. Personally, I like to think that Laufey IS still his mother, because I enjoy the idea of Jotun being single-sexed. (Mainly, Eidolon has completely rewritten any idea of Jotun culture I had before I read it. If you haven't read it, you should! It is an excellent fic.)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VanHinck In reply to VergofTowels [2012-02-29 09:25:43 +0000 UTC]

I had a vague theory that the Jotun are a matriarchal society, but with no obvious differentiation between the sexes- so other realms just make assumptions that the rulers are male, and the Jotun chalk it up as another way in which all the other realms suck and need to do more cultural research. (they'd be perfectly happy to say if someone asked them, but no one ever does, and out of such petty differences, whole wars grow.)

I've seen some gorgeous art for Eidolon, and one day when I have home Internet and spare hours, I must read it!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VergofTowels In reply to VanHinck [2012-02-29 12:53:15 +0000 UTC]

I like that idea, too! And it seems really likely to me that no one would bother assuming that a matriarchal society could exist, what with the strong patriarchy of Asgard. It would be interesting to see how that would affect Loki, too, considering he was raised by Odin and thus would still behave in an Aesir-approved manner toward women (Sif excluded, perchance).

It is long and lovely. I hope you get some spare time!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Khellian [2012-02-27 12:32:14 +0000 UTC]

*gg* Nice name. Me, I always imagined Loki would probably use a name like Luke Oleson (for Loki Odinsson, cos Luke Larsson for Loki Laufeyson sounds kinda ... odd ...)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VanHinck In reply to Khellian [2012-02-28 09:40:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I thought about picking a fathers name, but in the end went for a third option- just because I'm not sure Loki himself can choose.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Khellian In reply to VanHinck [2012-02-28 15:48:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, with the movie-storyline, I can't imagine Loki would choose either of his fathers' names. After all, the biological one's a monster and the adoptive one - well, doesn't seem to like him very much. At least not in Loki's view.
