I'm not sure how I feel about that game. I was watching clips last night and it just seems like an mmo without the player interaction. I mean the whole point is to kill epic beasts with friends (well freedom unite seems that way at least) but the thing that limits that is you need either a wireless hotspot or a bunch of friends who love mmos and psp too. And even then propper mmos do the same job better. Grind, slay big monsters and party up with mates is always better with a full server and an awesome graphics card... If the game had a proper story mode then yes, it'd be likely be great. But it doesn't seem to.

It's a love or hate game really.
The thing you don't really get from clips of the game is the feel of playing it. It's a game purely about gameplay. It doesn't hold your hand, it's hard as nails but it's fair. It's up to the player to master a few classes of weapon, get a feel for the land, work out which parts of a monster to strike and when to run like hell. When you do manage to kill one of the bigger monsters it's super rewarding...then you make boots from it. The thing that makes it not like a mmo is that it's not necessarily about how big and though you are and knowing what set of super combo spells and buffs to unleash but how skilled and patient you are.
While it's true it's geared towards Multiplay (not Massively Multiplayer remember) There are the Elder ( shory-ish ) Quests that are single player only and take up around 1/3 of the game and that's mostly what I've been playing so far ( and in the newer game you get an AI partner which will probably even out a few harder battles ) :3
For me, a good run in the game is a really meditative experience...of course a bad run is the opposite X'D
I know it's defiantly not for everyone.

I don't care if it's "Wii grafix", nor do I care if its "just a simple upgrade from 2G" I freaking want that online mode FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

har...well I guess the Wii graphics are a bit more advanced than the PSP's at least X'D. I don't have a Wii
but I'll get getting Unite when it comes out 8D

Aww, poo. Well not too sure on Unite TBH, I lack my own PSP ATM ( I play Monster Hunter on my imported PS2 <3 ) though if DO get one it'll be on my list of "must get and find others to play with" and it IS nice they are bringing this one over to the sta-rest of the world this time
