VALKARIEL x K/DA ALL OUT [Part 1 & 2] Styling Explorations
The first set of outfit exploration for a ALL OUT themed outfit for Valkariel (right 6). These ones were done before Seraphine’s superstar outfit was officially released, so I had thought the asymmetrical holographic skirt would be a nice touch to fit the group. If you’ve followed my story, after Seraphine’s splash art was unveiled, I went back to the drawing board to rework the designs to stand out and fit in with all five outfits. I’ll post those tomorrow!
When it comes to designing outfits/clothes that fit a theme like this, I generally pick a few stand out elements from the theme and color palette and mix them with a couple key elements of Valkariel's styling. Usually the Valkariel-defining elements I pick from include 1) loosely side-swept bangs + white hair in half or full ponytail, 2) some form of feathered wings, 3) some form of halo, 4) exposed shoulders with long sleeves, and 5) what I call her "half-wrapped" bodice look. Specifically in the K/DA universe, I tend to give Valkariel a flared A-line skirt/dress silhouette, often with an open cut/section paired with shorts.
The EP cover outfit palette is mainly black, with secondary royal blue color, very bright silver accents, and holographic/iridescent crystal blue. The "crystal blue" includes light greenish/cyan hues, blue hues, and some purple/pink hues. All the champion's defining features like Ahri's tails/Kai'sa's blasters/Eveylenn's lasher claws/Akali's blades, use the crystal blue gradient. The crystal theme is pushed pretty prominently throughout the outfits, from the crystal blue color usage to the crystal shaped structures and patterns. These outfits also seem to have more asymmetric usage and "strappy" accents.
The second set of outfit exploration for a ALL OUT themed outfit for Valkariel (left 6). These ones were done after Seraphine’s superstar outfit was officially released, so I had more information on what looks too similar and what will stand out just enough. Seraphine has her holo asymmetrical half skirt, but it turns out after I added color to Valkariel’s outfits, the original half skirt silhouette I was going for still worked out ok. I think a combination of some of these explorations will look good in the final design.
