When I heard that Sailor Moon was turning 20 in 2012, I told myself "I have to make something to commemorate this".

I was big fan of Sailor Moon back when it first started airing in North America in the 90's. I remember recording the episodes and watching them over and over again until I knew them by heart. I had seen anime before, but it was the first time that I saw a show where the lead characters female and I was about 14 when I first started watching the show, so, I was the target audience and I loved it.

I decided to draw Sailor Moon's mother, Queen Serenity with a cake. It might be a little morbid, since the queen dies in the beginning of the series, but I think that, no matter where she would be, she would be happy to celebrate her daughter's 20th birthday. The cake's design completely changed from the original sketch. It was bad...I didn't like it...I like it more now. I am however, proud of how I colored her hair, it was so fun to do.
