That was my first set of oil pastels. I didn't know how to use it back then. They were too dry and blended poorly, so I worked around it by dipping my brush into linseed oil and then by scraping the paint off the crayon with the brush. Now many years later I know that quality of your oil pastel do matter same as the paper you paint on.
