sunny | gratuitous | responsible | boyish | modest | homely | expressive | impressionable | clingy | brittle | private | embarrassing
At a glance, Shizue is an easygoing teenager with a strong, sunny presence- a boyish freshman that is naturally of the happy-go-lucky sort. He is found often in high spirits and trails closely after his beliefs. He is, however, easily influenced by his friends and the current trends, and, as an impressionable person, will often adjust his personality, slightly, to better suit the people around him, though this is something done subconsciously. He maintains a childlike fascination with most, if not all, people and things he encounters, and is keen on learning about others. His persistence in clinging to friends can be annoying at times—maddening, even, and he needlessly worries about being discarded by them. This can lead to embarrassing attempts to express his overflowing gratitude for them.
Shizue openly wears his heart on his sleeve, and his raw emotions are always on display, whether it be his countenance or body language; Shizue is a very expressive person. He can be read like an open book, and, as such, gets hurt easily. Despite his smaller stature, he stands strong in front of physical burdens, though is particularly frail against mental threats. He has a lower self-esteem, and for this reason, he is willing to tweak himself to make as many friends as he can, as he finds himself feeling most at ease amongst people who he can put his trust in, though this is something that's backfired on him in the past. He subconsciously feeds off of their praise, though is always pleasantly surprised at any kind action they can afford to show him. Most of his self-confidence ebbed away along with his pride from events in the recent years, but though he has since recovered from them, he now just seems more on the modest side.
Shizue keeps his personal life more of a secret; he is private and has it hidden away from the eyes of his dearest friends. Though Shizue thoroughly enjoys his time spent with them, he finds it embarrassing to let them into his private life and get to know a different side of him. At home, he holds a quiet, responsible presence, one that remains particularly respectful and kind, and he is often helping his elderly grandparents with chores, or holed away quietly in his room, of which is decorated lavishly with posters and merchandise of his favorite games and baseball players. He is somewhat of a family man, putting his relatives first and foremost, even before himself or his friends. Shizue lacks much academic merit, however, though for the most part works his hardest in school, in hopes of being able to support his family in the future.

♦ b i o g r a p h y" I go by Shuu ! "summary/tl;dr:
Shizue was born to a young couple in Osaka, and was raised with the best they could offer him, though they were not exactly wealthy. He developed an interest in sports in his early years; his mother was a junior league football coach so he’d gained experience, as well as killed time practicing with her and, at times, her team. Shizue was popular in school for his athleticism, though his keenness on making friends had turned him arrogant, and he began to expect praise from his peers. His mother’s death caused him to mellow down considerably, and he began to appreciate life and the things he had much more than before. He and his father moved to Iwamori to live with his grandparents due to money problems, and he was enrolled into Arishima High.
✥ ✥ ✥ ✥ ✥
✥ childhood
Shizue was conceived in the city of Osaka to a young couple. Though the news came as a surprise to them— it was just a few months before their wedding— their first son was warmly welcomed into the family. The parents were childhood friends and had seen the other well into adulthood. His mother was a strong, loving woman who coached the local junior football team. His father, a quiet, though surprisingly effective salesman was usually away from home due to his craft. He would call often, however, so he was kept in close contact with them aside from a lack of his physical presence.
Naturally the pair wanted the best for their child. They raised him to be a kind person, one that puts family first and foremost, but never to forget all the fun he will experience. However, despite living in a wealthier city, the family was not as well off as they would have hoped. There was enough money for food, but often not enough to go around after the bills were dealt with. Shizue, while young, never really did understand this. He was often the last boy in his friend group to get that new console or contraption everyone at school’s been talking about, and this frustrated him. Although, thanks to his mother, who’d often let him come to football practice with the boys, as well as her team who’d often let him play with them before practice, he was never bored.
✥ school life
Upon entering school, he quickly became one of the brightest among his classmates in terms of athletics and performed well in most of the sports units. He had a good throwing arm—he chalked this up to the result of numerous practices with the junior football team—and a lithe build. Repeated successes and praise from teachers and friends boosted his ego greatly, especially after he had been enrolled into an all boys junior high school. He was not the most attractive, nor anywhere close to being the smartest, but he was known amongst peers for his athleticism and good nature, and was always more than excited in making friends with those curious few who approached him.
As his school life progressed, Shizue’s ideals began to warp. He began to expect praise from friends and stood down those who opposed him in junior high. He began to look down on others who weren’t as good as him, and got into little fights after school. This behavior went by largely unnoticed at home for the most part—he assured his parents they were sports injuries, not wanting them to worry about his qualms at school, out of love for them.
His mother died in a car crash around halfway through his third year.
The family had suffered blows after her death. She was the one person closest to Shizue, and as she was the anchor of their family, it was beyond heartbreaking for he and his father. The soft-spoken man had suffered the same, if not more, from her death as Shizue. She grew up with him, after all, and despite all odds, they managed to secure a loving relationship together after all their years. Following this, the man tried to be there for his son as much as he possibly could in his late wife’s place. Shizue came as a result of their love, after all, and he loved him as a father would, just as much. During the next months, until graduation, Shizue had grown withdrawn, and he mellowed considerably. During this time, however, he began to grow more appreciative of what life has given him.
The two decided to move to the countryside after Shizue graduated junior high. It was the most cost-efficient plan, moving in with his grandparents in Iwamori. After a teary farewell with his close friends, who had stuck by him until the end, he swept up his bags and headed for Iwamori.

Biological Father | Chiura, Jun | ♂ | 41 | Alive | A quiet man, fond of life, though has since felt melancholic over the death of his spouse. In recent years he’s tried his best to be there for his son, and Shizue respects him greatly for all the work he’s done for his family.
Biological Mother | Akimoto, Megumi | ♀ | 42 | Deceased | A strong, yet kind woman. While she was alive, she and Shizue were the closest, with him admiring her strength, both physically and emotionally. He thinks about her a lot.

rp example
Shizue gathered up his belongings from the empty seat next to him with a sweeping motion, tripping his way out of his cushioned blue seat in anticlimactic fashion. He jumped out of the bus- rounded a corner, and slowed his pace to wave and shout an enthusiastic greeting to his new neighbors, a Mrs. Yamato, wheeling her youngest daughter to the mall complex downtown, he assumed- before whipping back around, continuing along his path. His classmate had told him earlier in the day that there was actually an amusement park near their junior high school. Perhaps a good ten minutes after the short conversation they’d had about the carnival attractions, he had already began to throw on his clothes, planning to sneak out of the house to visit it- an unfashionably bright yellow hooded jacket left unzipped with the sleeves rolled up, fitted loosely over a blue egg-patterned T-shirt, of which was coupled with dark grey, almost black, shorts—they were his favorite pair! Sure enough, it was a good seven or eight (he lost count) bus stops away from the one closest to his house- though to him that was still quite far. Considering he was quite a fan of carnival food, Shizue was surprised that he had never been to the place before.
