The show has this uncanny habit of making some of the most bizarre things come true -
The first fanfiction I ever wrote ... well, it was a half-baked narrative that didn't know if it wanted to be a hilaaaaarious comedy or a serious story, and subsequently, I never published it until years later as a "Bonus" for my readers over on fimfiction, and ONLY on my deviantArt account since I didn't want it to sully my reputation over on aforementioned fimfiction.net.
Guess how the story ends:
With Pinkie Pie making three clones of herself, and everything getting ridiculously out of control.
It was meant as a "so silly the story stops making any sense"-type of ending. I wrote that in January 2012. 
Needless to say, canon outdid me there, nearly 2 years later.
Also, the season 5 finale sort of ruined a one-shot fanfiction that had been conceived over two years earlier in concept.
It involved a character repeatedly going back in time, experiencing different unpleasant future outcomes. And it seemed like such an original idea too! 
So, in November of this year, I finally got around to sit down and write it. It was almost finished - really, the only thing that was de facto missing was a proper ending.
And then suddenly, season 5 episode 25 + 26 happened.
Err.
Well, that sucked all the "originality" right out of the story. Not to mention it created some inconsistencies with canon. 
Drat.

And that'll encourage me to write faster. So I can put my stamp on these things before the show gets around to it!
What's funny is, one fanfic I read one time was called Surprise, Surprise, in which Pinkie meets Surprise, who is basically Pinkie but more so. She likes her at first but gets jealous of everyone liking Surprise better. She decides to fight for her place, realizes she's being a total jerk about it in the end, and Surprise tells her that she used to be quite unpopular until she was inspired by Pinkie herself to put herself out there more and become the party pony she is now.
Basically,replace Surprise with Weird Al, and that episode's plot follows it almost exactly, to the point that I wonder if we'd know if any member of the writing staff did a fanfic anonymously. lol.

Hey, I remember reading that fic you speak of. Funny, it must've been nearly 8 years ago or so.
Anyway, yeah, I eventually did publish the fic after, like, 5 1/2 years or so:
"A disillusioned changeling tells his life story about seeking a better future – with time travel."

It occurs to me that VinylTavia and LyraBon, unlike the other fused ponies, would have great trouble walking, even with good teamwork. They're probably on that bench because they can't really go anywhere right now.
