Description Artist: Long Vo

Full size sample sprite from the high definition version of Street Fighter currently being worked on by UDON artists. This is the same size and detail you'll see on screen in the final release version side-by-side with a blown up original sprite.

The sprites for the new release of the game, which will be available on download networks for PS3 and XBox 360 some time before Christmas, are 4.5 times the size of the original sprites and packed with new detail and style.

Look for more samples throughout the summer on Capcom's Digital Blog as the project continues.

The readability isn't good, which is generally not a good thing - especially for animation. I hope they fix these kinds of things... I mean it's not every day an HD remake of a game comes along....

The idea of redoing a game in HD sounds cool, but it seems like everybody's experienced roid rage.

Taking a guess, Akuma's arms have increased at least 30% in overall thickness. It's not a bad thing, it's just sort of weird, seeing everyone get HUGE biceps and triceps like that.

Good luck on the big HD redo of Street Fighter II.

I was just wondering, would the gameplay be exactly like the old SFII? If that's the case, why not Udon-ize SFIII? It has better gameplay than SFII, which is ancient in comparaison.

It is the same game as the original, though there has been some talk of adding new gameplay modes.

The game was proposed and is being put together by Capcom. Hopefully if it does well they'll look at other titles to make HD.

Hi, been wondering..how do u get the above illustration pixelized?
wat i mean is..um..the pixelised version is pretty detailed too...
so i'm wondering if theres a filter/trick that does the pixelization for u...
or do u do a pixel art version from scratch? o.o" do you work with 8/16 bit? or specific palettes?
I'm tryin to work on pixel art style graphic and what I tried to work on is so far..only habbo stuff..
I've seen video games beign so detailed, so I'm figuring out how to detailize in pixel art style.
Hope im making sense... yea~ hope u can help clarify my doubts about pixel art.

The pixelized version is the original pixel from the game scaled up to 4.5 times as big... we didn't create that version.

And why, in the back-view, are his arms asymmetrical when it seems there was no problem with mirroring the feet?

I guess Rey Jimenez answered my question about Sagat in the blog when saying Akuma was beefed up cos he is supposed to be beefier than Ryu...
That makes Sagat sprite be a lot bigger than the original one in the SSF2T...

Man, this looks really impressive. Too bad they didn't get you guys to do this with Capcom Fighting Evolution; the game would have been worth getting just to see some updated Darkstalker and Warzard characters.

Glad to hear you're interested in doing a Darkstalkers HD. I would pay any amount of money to play that.

Also, you said this is for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. I heard it was also coming out for the PC. Is that still on? And what will the requirements be? I just hope I don't have to drop $300 to $500 to play this game... I would, but I don't wanna have to.

Hmm...I like it....but....it seems that the Kanji on the new Akuma's back is not centered correctly....and a little "skinny" compared to the other.

Also, his head is shrunken in alot more, and I think the older one looks better in that regard.....

the last one looks kinda weird... it'd be better if it was a more "screaming" pose for the mouth rather the traditional "ooo" pose Gouki/Akuma has had over the years... it SHOULD look well when animated tho... all the raging shakin' Gouki does and stuff...

Amaing work on the 'tatsumaki senpu kakyu' and the 'messatsu/TEN' win pose! When will we see some Animated spirites tho??
