TrajanII [2017-03-31 23:18:22 +0000 UTC]

This style of architecture is called mock-Tudor in England. This is not a derogatory term - it just means that the exposed beams emulate a style that was common in the 16th century during the reign of the Tudor monarchs. It's an appealing style that was revived in the late 19th century.
Excellent photograph

Thank you very much for the information. So it don't surprise to find the style in a hotel building of a in 19th century very frequented sea bath in Scotland

I think the revival of the Tudor style in building in the 19 th century coincided with a  romantic Victorian nostalgia for the 16th century. In art it was captured by the pre-Raphaelites 😊 Architecturally the mock Tudor style lasted up to the 1960's in surburban Britain being incorporated into the popular semi-detached dwelling. Did anything similar happen in Germany?
I like the quality of your photographs and you have a good eye for a shot .

Thank you, and yes we had something equal. In the late 19th century a big lot of ruined castle mostly along the river Rhine where restored and modernized. And the most know place of this fashion is the castle Neuschwanstein in Bavaria. ( which was the model for all the Walt Disney castles   )

No so easy, if you want to drive a nail in the wall you had to hit a bar, or he will come out leaving a big hole

Yes there are. Would be interesting to look more east, but did come only until Czech Republic, and that's like Germany

Erkennt man gleich, dass es ein britisches Fachwerkhaus ist.
Da fehlt das Verspielte.

Stimmt, und vor allem arbeiten sie mit viel weniger Querbalken

burningBernd In reply to UdoChristmann [2017-03-12 13:31:25 +0000 UTC]

Vielleicht dachten die, sie haben schon genügend Querköpfe, da brauchen sie nicht so viele Querbalken.

UdoChristmann In reply to burningBernd [2017-03-12 13:49:59 +0000 UTC]

Ist in Schottland aufgenommen, da ist der Querkopfanteil nicht ganz so hoch wie sonst auf der Insel
