A literal spawn of the dead titan Unicron, his purpose was to watch over the son of Megatron known as Galvatron, making sure the fledgling monster would grow up to be the bot to usurer Megatron's rule over all Decepticons.....thus he too had to live on the same barren rock in a far remote galaxy far from the known universe. While he was able to live more comfortably than Galvatron fact is just being here watching Galvatron's progress was indeed a torturous existence, eon after eon he stood and watched with nothing to give his life true meaning other than his guardsman task. The idea to abandon his post was all too easy once Galvatron was able to talk some sense into him, now the two roam the universe seeking revenge on the dead titan who condemned them to that rock....
