A 10mm electrorifle used by the nation of Zyt (pronounced Zight), the Model 37 is the standard issue service rifle of the Zyt Defense Forces. While other worlds developed lasers and plasma based weaponry, the world of Sofia created a coil-gun. Using a battery on the side of the magazine, the electrorifle uses it to propel a slug of metal over distances by magnetizing it. This make the production of ammunition simple. An electrorifle is a large calibre weapon similar to an assault rifle and larger calibre weapon up to artillery, followed by the electrogun, a submachine gun design, and finally the electropistol, a typical sidearm. The results of the first electrorifle used in battle were quickly copied by other nations on Sofia and became the standard of the planet. The Model 37 was developed by the Zyt City Armory, the nation's primary defense contractor. Designed in SY 3,037, the Zyt Defense Forces chose to chamber it using the older Shebetwokeha military standard 10x50mm slug rather then its newer 5x40mm one. The ZDF believed the larger slug would be more lethal than the smaller one. The Model 37 uses a 30 round magazine and has a rate of fire at 700 rpm.
