I think it works really well in B&W Victoria, nice contrast too, the kitty stands out nicely against the darkness around it. Good focus on the face too with the blurred I heart.
I'm guessing he didn't like it because it wasn't what he meant by the assignment? If he didn't like it because of the technical side- He's mad!

Today he switched assignments on us... Before spring break, he told us our assignment would be "Photograph in the manner of" which required us to look at other photographers from a list he gave us and try to shoot like them. Today (our first day back), he told us that our assignment is "Landscapes" 
I hope he goes for it though.
