Description
This is a page from a sample plot that I did for a company looking to replace another artist, mainly because the guy quit.A requirement for getting accepted was that I had to draw just like the guy who ditched the book with five pages to go in the story.
So I tried, I failed to get the job, BUT it was a learning experience. I also tried to mock his story telling, which is nothing simular to my own. In doing so, however I learned some things that I plan on intergrating into my own work.
Fun times.

This reminds me of all of the cop cliches where afterward a long day they casually flip their wallets, sigh, and gaze at photos of their familes.

This pencil work is very sensitive. What a shame that adding color will probably dumb it down. We need comic publishers to take a risk with pencil as finished art.

You have such expression in your pencil work: the variations of weight, the soft line, then the postive marks. It is excellent. When color is added, the pencil marks are treated as a framework, and a color skin hides all that interesting stuff. Unless... you just wash a transparent watercolor over the pencil, then they will still be visible.

I dont even know if they didn't choose me. the girl that is inking the project said that they havent contacted her in a month. so it may just be that they're taking to damn long.

I was wondering when you were gonna post something again. That sucks about the job, but at least you took something from it like you said. I always admire your line work and detail. I think those guys are gonna be kicking themselves in the ass when they realize how much talent they let go.
