Hello,Β

I think your character style and mood are executed well.Β
Only thing I can quickly comment on is the anatomy of his arm muscles in connection to his upper torso. I do realize its a fantasy character, half boser and half orc. In saying this, Β theΒ
character has more humanoid features than creature features. I would suggest examining anatomy references of human torso and arms muscles.Β
Also lighting is really good. However, the lighting on the character could be represented in some of the foreground elements as well.Β

Hope this helps

Hi! I'm here from ProjectComment Β Β  Β

I'd like to start off by saying that I think this piece is really well done. I like the color choices for the setting in the background, and the character is well drawn and shaded.
I think the anatomy for Mahk looks accurate, and the muscles on his arms look good, as well. His pose looks nice, he looks like he's ready for an adventure! The shading looks great, with the light source coming off from the right and above. The rays of light from the sun is a nice touch in the back.
I think his armor is done wonderfully. It looks aesthetically pleasing, and you did extremely well with coloring and shading it. The design is detailed enough, but not so detailed it's overbearing. I also REALLY love the small little scratches and cracks you put on it. Such attention to detail!
I'm also going to point out that those markings you did on his face are very well done.Β
There's two things that could be improved upon. One is your background. For the most part, it's actually drawn really well, and it feels like you put some care into where the trees are branches are placed. The color choices are fine, too. The main problem I have with it, though, is that it feels a bit lacking in detail compared to Mahk in terms of the shading. He is so detailed and shaded, and the trees are kind of just really flat. They don't look bad, but their style just doesn't seem to match with the style of the character.
The other thing is a bit more minor, but I feel like maybe his weapons could have used a bit more shine or lighting to make them look a bit more metal. As it stands now, they almost look like they are made as the same material as his clothing.

Overall, I think you did a great job on this piece! it has a nice fantasy feel to it, and your attention to detail is great.

Project comment here

Quite an interesting character, drawn in a good technical quality. I particularly like the detailed shading with attention to where the sun is coming from and the little details that definitely add more life into it such as the leaves and the sunrays.

The image shows a good composition as well, with a consistent use of a yellow dominant color throughout and the black/blue of the armor to contrast.

However, the curious contrast between the rather classical style of drawing and smooth shading for the character and the lineless, sharp shading of the background strikes me. While it is pretty, I find that it slightly breaks the integration of the character into the scene, making it more a portrait than really a scene in fact. But then, why not?

The only real critisicsm I have is the discrepancy between the pose and the expression. This is clearly a fighting stance, but the expression does not show it. Lowered inner brows is the missing element I think (either from anger, focus or determination, the inner brows will be lowered). Raisibg cheeks would help too (except if you want to convey determination). The relaxed expression does not match the tension that the pose shows.

So overall, good technique with just the facial expression that would need to be reworked, and an image that fulfills its purpose: being a portrait of a character.

Thank you so much for your great comment!
Yes the problem of the differnce of character and background is quite big ^^'
and big thank you for your critique on his expression. I didn't notice that.
