Description
Inspiration: I was trying to go for a Card Captor Sakura look with the body. Originally it was going to be for a Clamp/Mucha-style painting in my Painting/Drawing class, along with the Water Sprite picture. (hence the reason for the stars of david, very art nouveau.)

Process: First I drew the pixie and the stars in pencil and inked with Micron Pens. In Photoshop, I multiplied the lines layer and put it on top. Underneath, I had several layers: first there was a normal color layer for the yellow sash, the opacity of which I reduced to 99%, then I placed the normal color layer for the skin and hair under that, then the wings, then the background. The wings consisted of two layers: a bottom layer in which I used the gradient tool to create a red fading to yellow away from the pixie, and an upper layer consisting of a pattern I created by adding and subtracting selections made with the lasso tool. When the pattern was done, I filled the final selection with the gradient tool, fading blue to red away from the pixie. When working with such a large selection, it is a good idea to save each little part as a channel, and then combine all the channels to make the final selection. I ended up erasing the stars of david in pen to replace with stars I created in Illustrator.
