There exists in our world a force that keeps balance. Although in itself is not good or evil, the way it cycles energy seems to some humans acts of divine and demonic intervention. The Balance is a force of opposites in everyway, but has neither evil or good intentions. The Balance opperates in such a way as to keep a steady flow of energy circulating. If that means ending life to give energy to other areas, so be it. However you must not be mistaken into thinking that The Balance governs the universe. Indeed it has no part in deciding what is done with the energy and what should be taken. Some say there is a higher order than The Balance which commands its actions.... but that is a subject to which there are few definate answers. The Balance is simply part of the ebb and flow of being. And over time, the energy circulated by this Balance grows.

The longer the give and take of energy, the faster the energy transferal takes place. The faster the energy is transfered, the greater it's strength. There comes a time when the power is too great for this world to contain, and it must be.... disposed of. That is what the Wards of Dark have been born for. Their sole reason for existing is to contain this emmense power... yet not use it.
The forces have created barriers that prevent this power from being known to The Wards. These are called The Dark.

The Wards

Little is known about the Wards. The main reason being that they themselves do not know of what they truly are. Many Wards have existed throughout human history, and all have lived ordainary lives, never realising the power they posses could shatter the world as we know it. What is known about them comes from the Old Chronicles. Fragments of tales from the time of the first Wards.

There are 3 Wards now. All born on the same day at the exact same time. Selected from before birth to be the container of power they are never to fully own.

They are:

Jinx
Alex
Adalee&Hannah

The Dark

There are 3 Dark. Their job is to prevent power leaking out of the Wards, and dulling their awareness of the power. As well as this they act as bodyguards. If a Ward dies an unnatural death, then the power they contain seeps back into the world. This would create absolute chaos, perhaps even brining about the end of the world. The Darks job is to make sure that the Wards do not die until their time. So that the Wards do not realise that they are being protected, The Dark have the ability to shapeshift into any convenient form. Their original form is human in appearance. There have only ever been 16 Dark. They have incredibly long lifespans, however they are mortal. The 3 Dark of today are relatively young, and this is their first time as official guardians of The Wards.
