Description I made another drawing of Ayumi and then painted her on Photoshop... apparently... I am attached to this character the same way I am attached to Athena.
I have no way of writing Japanese in Photoshop (used google translate for that) and I have no idea how to make up Japanese names in their written language so... sorry to those who I will offend.

In an alternate world... where the supernatural were more active.

Ayumi is born into a poor family who wished to live peace in Feudal Japan. Being born under the full moon and during winter, she is given the moon god's blessing and was destined for greatness... but it had an unusual side effect. Her hair turned white when she started growing them, and instead of inheriting her parent's eyes, they were ice blue. It was surprising that when she was born, her skin was white like snow, to the point the people accused the poor family that they gave birth to a monster. However, the lord of their land gave protection to the baby girl... as he found something very peculiar and powerful surrounding that girl.

Ayumi's life wasn't easy. The children around her were scared at the ghastly pale appearance of the girl, their parents share the same sentiments by accusing the girl to be a yuki-onna or "snow lady". Her presence in her village cause quite of a stir around people, there are even rumors of her being spread around several villages. Whenever it snows, the white haired girl would go out and watch the sky and when it gets dark, she would watch the moon rise would write poems about nature.

The lord of the village came to pick her up at her most appropriate age, of 15 years, and took her in after her parents died from a snowstorm. The lord was awed when he summoned her into his home... the little girl her whom he offered protection from being killed is now a fine young woman who had porcelain skin and soft and silky hair. Though the woman was short, he couldn't believe that her developed body fits such short frame. When he asked her what she wished... his face from a kind smile turned 180 degrees. The woman in front of him had asked him to teach her Bushido. Despite warning the poor snow haired beauty of the dangers, the young woman pressed him until he agrees.

Years later, the rumors of a yuki-onna born from mortals had quickly turned into a dangerous form of propaganda as the same woman born from that family had gained the nickname of the Scarlet Swordswoman. With her blood painted armor, she charges into enemy lines with a naginata in hand and a wakizashi as a spare. Tales of her ferocity and brutalities in the battlefield had stir the ire of surrounding clansmen and nobles. If the rumors and chatter wasn't enough, some people who survived the onslaught of her curb stomp battles bring tales that she commanded the sky and bring snow into the battlefield. Whenever she goes... the ice and snow follows. She had not only gained the attention of clansmen but also the supernatural, she defeated or outrageously murders any demon and yokai that caught her sights or anyone else that stood in her way.

During her battles, Ayumi starts to become resentful of her efforts and seeks for a greater power. A greater power that would make everyone bow down to her, that power? Immortality. Due to some connections, she has heard of the elixir of life in the hands of a certain emperor and sought out for it. However, she was stopped by the moon god. He punished the woman for her foolish acts and takes away his blessing from her, the power to control the weather, and cursed her with a sickly body that would live forever. Ayumi got what she wanted... but she never wanted this outcome. Enraged by her god's act, she went out and slaughtered the people who worshiped the temple of the moon god, further inciting his rage towards the one he has chosen. He had sealed her in a forest where she would never be found, and would never wake up.

Time has passed and the moon god had decided to release her from her prison. He was surprised when the woman suddenly bowed before him and begged for his forgiveness. Ayumi confessed that she wanted to be more powerful only to unify Japan into one, however she was so blinded by the blood lust and the battles she fought to the point that she desired for more blood. She asked the god for one more chance to redeem herself. The god still distrust her, but gave her a sword. The sword that she will carry through the rest of her life, Sword of the Evening Sky (夕天の剣/ Yu ten'notsurugi). Ayumi is informed that the age of gods is over and with humanity rising up with more power than anyone could imagine. With the chance she is given, she went out of her prison and found herself at the Meiji era of Japan. With the samurai falling, she decided to give up the values of a samurai and decided to live her life peacefully and discreetly due to her immortality.

Peace was never that long for Kotomine Ayumi. Even after marrying a couple of men who would die from old age, she never truly enjoyed her life. She sometimes wished for rest within her soul... she grew tired and regretted her decisions when she was young. Wars were fought by her nation, but she isn't allowed to join due to gender constrictions. She never wanted to play nurse for injured soldiers... but that doesn't mean she can't be left out of the action. Rumors of the Scarlet Swordswoman or The Yuki-Onna started spreading yet again within the ranks of the Japanese soldiers and her fellow country men. Whenever she draws her sword, the familiar ability to control the weather had returned to her. She led her fellow soldiers, who were terrified of her, into victory by slaughtering the enemy before them whenever they were Chinese, Russian, or the latter Americans in the second world war. This, however, upsetting the supernatural balance of the world. In the Second World War, Ayumi had to chose what battle to participate in or the surrounding supernatural creatures or the American "Heroes" would come in and ruin everything for her. That was when, Ayumi, finally laid down her arms and quit fighting.

The white haired beauty had seen it all, the rise and fall of Japan, the nuclear strike that scared her, the economic boom or the Japanese Miracle after the Second World War, the tensions of the Cold War, how her country's old enemies became friends, the terrorist attack that shocked the whole world in 9/11, and finally the Tohoku earquake that caused the Fukishima Nuclear disaster. While moving to a new place, she found two young children in front of their house. When she checked inside, she found out their parents had died from a break-in. She decided to adopt the children under the name of Hiromoto Ayumi. Up to now, the tale of the Scarlet Swordswoman still lives but not in the mortal realm. The Scarlet Swordswoman lives in the supernatural world, where demons fear her name from her actions in the past and during the wars she participated in.
