I was working on a small redesign for the original NES Metroid. An update to make it match the rest of the series. Sprite sheets of course, not a ROM hack.

I was planning on doing Samus, Zero Suit Samus, and the Metroid logo. I lost what I had done for the logo before I had the chance to save it. I replaced all of Zero Suit Samus' sprites, but Samus was proving too difficult due to the amount of detail. Detail by NES standards anyway. I haven't done much spriting, so I was finding it hard to keep track of stuff.

So, on the left is the original design and on the right is my design.

Zero Suit Samus isn't really Zero Suit Samus. I didn't want to change the original colour palette, so I couldn't make her outfit blue. So, instead, I originally gave her the bikini she wore in Metroid II (no boots even), but I decided to cover her up a bit more and now her look is similar to that of Super Metroid - but with Zero Mission's hair style. Much better than the leotard thing.

I like how she's holding a gun now instead of her hand still being in her blaster.

I think Samus's armour looks a lot better. Not so bobble-head like. Not terribly fond of how the shoulders turned out, but oh well.

Like I said before, all of Zero Suit Samus' sprites have been changed. So, if anyone is interested I can animate her running.

I didn't see the point in posting the other sprites for Samus since they're ugly.

Uhh...no intentions of finishing this. So, project's cancelled.
