today's my dad's birthday, he would've been 82. the nypd cars went sky blue just before he retired.

Well that sure is different! Pretty neat. I've never seen a Cop car with so much "Blue" also, never any sky blue for that matter!

for many years, nypd cars were green and black: [link]
then in in '73, they changed to that odd sky blue.
by about 1990 or so they changed again to white: [link]

Heh, another I've never seen before. Green on a cop car! That's pretty neat.
Our cop cars are just mostely white, with a dark blue and I think red across the car from passenger seat, to the truck horizontal.
