Description "The face of war has never changed. There is no honourable way to kill; there is no gentle way to destroy. War possesses no logic — except in its ending..."

At last, two of my favourite obsessions — 19th-century Great Mouse Detective and 24th-century Star Trek — merged and mingled as one little, parodistic crossover, brought to you by me and, pushing my hesitancy aside, I am pleased to introduce the adventures of Star Trek: Titus:

Of the House of Karatek and of the Clan Haanik-sen-task, a kinsman of the House of Seheik, Admiral Salok is head of Starfleet military operations during the Dominion War, one of the highest-ranking Vulcans in Starfleet since 2362. He is the commanding officer of Starbase 60, orbiting Vulcan's sister planet, T'Kuht, which served as gathering point for the Fifth, Sixth, Thirteenth, and Thirty-First Fleets during the Dominion War. Admiral Salok commands the Sovereign-class flagship USS Gibraltar (NCC-75689) on the frontlines, serving as senior commander of the Fifth Fleet for the first half of the war, with his (acting) adjutant, Captain Serek , of the flagship Multi-Vector-class USS Titus (NX-74910). Innovative, insightful, tenacious, and analytic, his logic remains as advanced as his more pacifistic Vulcan brethren, yet his psionic abilities are extraordinary, as he is susceptible to thoughts and emotions without touch, placing him in the top 1% of the general population. He is a healer, a scholar, a father, a husband, a soldier, a leader, and a friend to some of the greatest figures in Federation history. Salok and his beloved life-mate, T'Sing , have five children — sons Silik, Kitak, Xoskar, and twin daughters V'Rul and V'Rea; they are currently expecting their sixth child, T'Sar, in a few months.

After conquering Betazed, the Dominion-Cardassian alliance began their attack on Vulcan, making it as far as Kir-Alep (Vulcanis VI, or 40 Eridani VI) in a deadlock. The Fifth, Thirteenth, and Thirty-First Fleets launch a counter-offensive to force the Dominion back from the border of the 40 Eridani system in the First Battle of Vulcanis in an eight-week onslaught, led by Admiral Salok and Captain Serek .

gotta say I kinda like the GMD/ST crossover, purty cute.

as for photoshop, are you familiar with the "Threshold" option in getting your lines cleaned up for the coloring process? I was just wondering if you were intentionally keeping in the lighter pencil lines for a peek into the process sort of feel or if you were of the mindset that I would be in, in that they are a pain in the @$$ to erase by hand/mouse/tablet.

Not at all. I'll need to try it.

No matter how many years I've worked in Photoshop, it always something new to learn.

He reminds me a little of someone in the Secret of Nymn... man it's been too long to remember who though.

Cool looking picture. Isn't his coloring a little darker than some of your other pictures of him, though?

I have to say that since I've started reading your little summaries, I've become addicted to the idea of a GMD/ST fusion.

Pictures of who? This is first time I've done Admiral Salok -- not to be confused with Captain Serek or Minister Merek. Vulcan names are strange.

Very handsome! I haven't looked at your art gallery (on your GMD page) in the longest time, and I need to keep up with that. Is this one of your original pastiched characters, or one you designed especially for the USS Titus project?

Btw, if you'd like to use any of my pastiched characters (i.e. Vonny, Arsene Lupine, etc.) you're more than welcome. (Nope, I'm not hinting---just if you're ever tempted to try it, it's all systems go. )

Solak's an original design JUST for Titus. He's mentioned by name alone (a Vulcan admiral whose head of Fifth Fleet, that's it) only in the Dominion War Sourcebook, so I just took that and made an entire personality. It was ironic since I made Titus the flagship of its own fleet; I chose the Fifth Fleet as it was mentioned in an episode for protecting the Vulcan border -- bring a Vulcan back to Vulcan. A month later I read the Sourcebook, everything worked perfectly and added Salok.

Oooo....that's tempting. I think Vonny (or Lupine) would be great for an ambigious "guest star" -- a villianous staker. He's just an idea -- made him up like yesterday actually, lol! Jossian Lyta, a Betazoid (telepathic race) psychopath/serial murderer who had a powerful ability to kill telepathically. Just think about it. How terrible such a think is...just dream a thought, a simple thought, and the larnyx squeezes -- no evidence. He's just this shadow, a minor subplot. The ship's counselor Ixanna Eltar, years ago, applied for an advanced behavioural psychology internship at an asylum for the criminally insane, where she studied Jossian Lyta who became obsessed with her. And he "stocks" her telepathically -- a kind of "mind rape". Think Jack-Of-All-Trades killer from Profiler series, a man who calls her and as a goodbye LICKS the phone. Very creepy guy, but intelligent, educated, well-read, and extremely charming -- but not nessecarily handsome....well, it's optional, but not really nessacary. It's idea is only two days old...but I have to have Cass' permission for it since it's her character whose playing the part of Ixanna Eltar.

I can't help it. I love angst. I love psychological torture of characters. I have to do to every character I do.

Great! Sounds pretty much like Vonny's department. And I know what you mean about angst, dahling!
Mazza and I were discussing that once, and there was mention of the Victor Hugo Award for the most cruelty shown to
one's character. (Zounds!!! We actually ought to host an 'awards show' of that sometime! )

I like to thank my imaginationand my over-obsessiveness... For if it were not for it, I would never be where I am today. Also, I would love to thank all the little people. Thank you all!

Very nice colouring on this, your attention to the details is also very good, yet you still keep a clean line which is essential. His expression is perfect as well as his stance in this frame. A nice close up and profile captures the eyes.

I would like to see you do a loose open full page using these guys. Your art has a fusion of a manga style and western style which is so unique. Especially the eyes. I think the eyes of your characters set them apart from the rest of the anthros out there that are fan based. All your characters have a very similar yet slightly different eye structure, as well as body and skull structure as well. It's clean, easy to look at and very nice.

(then again you know this stuff so I'm just repeating myself)

But I would encourage you to try a bit of comic art. Just for fun. But not like western comic, try manga. But no Chibis

Thank you. I'll have to try the comic art. I don't read much manga, but I think it would look great Westernized. I'll have to do some skimming through manga at Barnes and Noble.
