Description     Speedpaint: Coming soon!

    I can't think of titles to save my life. ;-;

    And I'm a couple of days late, aren't I? I blame the anniversary event going on right now. xD

    But yeah, I had to draw something for Overwatch's anniversary. And yes, I just had to include Skye in there somewhere since she wouldn't have been created if not for this game. I'll eventually draw something with just Tracer (perhaps with her new skin cause holy cow is it amazing!)

    I remember when Overwatch was first introduced to us. My father and I were watching BlizzCon 2014 on DirecTV when they announced a new IP. Obviously, we were wondering as to what it could be. When the trailer started playing, we were both like "What is this?" We honestly thought it was a movie at first, because the animation was so good, Pixar quality to be exact. However, we quickly realized that it was very unlikely and my curiosity was immediately piqued. The mention of Tracer and a little hint to her personality at the beginning made me like her, even though I didn't know much about her. The brief shot of her got me even more excited. Then the very second she blinked behind Widow, I knew she would be my favorite and I knew she would be my main. Without a shadow of a doubt, I was insanely excited for Overwatch. Every BlizzCon, I wanted to know when the Overwatch panels were being held (still do). I wanted to know every facet of this game and its lore. Although I was never into shooters, I wanted to play this game so much, and it would be my very first modern FPS I have played (I say modern because the only other FPS I've played was a very old 90s game).
    I remember the first time I played this game. Before going to sleep, I usually surfed the web on my phone, checking up on my DeviantART notifications for anything new before going to bed. Or I would write down something in OneNotes or check my emails. One night in early March, I noticed that I had a new email from Blizzard, so I went to check it out. It was an invitation to the closed beta for a brief period of play time, only being able to play for a couple of days. I was both excited, yet hesitant. Overjoyed, but cautious. I was thrilled, don't get me wrong, but I wasn't quite sure I wanted to get myself into something like this. I was (and kinda still am) very introverted. The only online game I've played was WoW, but that was mainly on a dead server so any social interactions I had with strangers were either very limited or hardly ever happened. Plus my guild was oddly a ghost town at the time. Overwatch had the potential to draw huge crowds, some nice, others not so much. I ran into toxic people in WoW from time to time and I knew Overwatch would be no different. Hell, it would probably be worse than WoW. But I was way too eager for this game to let that stop me; I jumped at the chance and the very next morning, I downloaded the game.
    I don't think I'll ever forget the feeling of first entering into a game I've waited so long for. That sense of excitement and nervousness as I entered a match, the feeling of awe and wonder at the beautiful new environments and the adrenaline rush of having my first taste of victory. It felt like I was a kid again, and not a lot of games can trigger that feeling.
    After the closed beta came the open beta, which gave me a little bit more time to play the game. Needless to say, I was hooked and made sure my pre-order for the collector's edition was still placed. I made the best of it and was bummed when the beta was over. I wondered why "Gone" always made me think of Overwatch, but now I know. It transports me back to when I eagerly awaited the game to be released, back to when everything was still new to me. I listened to the song a lot during that time, so I guess my brain just connected the two.
    As for my hero of choice, you know damn well I chose Tracer as much as I could. Even on defense, which at the time raised a few eyebrows but it worked. Besides, I needed as much practice as I could get with her. But I eventually decided that learning a defense hero (and eventually a tank and support hero) would be a good idea and the only one I enjoyed the most was Junkrat. I was never good at sniping with Widow or Hanzo and Bastion and Torb weren't satisfying enough to play, so he was the only option left. I eventually went on to practice D.Va and Lucio as well. Funny how my mains are all considered the "kids" in the fandom.
   I made a lot of friends along the way as well. When first entering the game, I had that mindset that I probably wouldn't be making any friends playing, but that didn't really bug me. Over time however, I started grouping up with a few people that I, sadly, don't really group up with anymore. One day, I was grouped up with a couple of friends, plus a few people I never knew and was very shy. Like, I still used my mic and all, but hardly. I was basically like in the corner of the spawn just listening to them joke around. I think at that moment, I wanted to be in this clique and I didn't let my shyness hold me back. I became a bit more vocal and we grouped together more and more. Eventually, that led to a discord server that is still up and has most members to this day, including me. I honestly don't know what I would do if I didn't have my group. Being around them always cheers me up, even if they just simply play a game with me.
    Overwatch has changed my life in ways that I never expected it to. Without it, I never would have met such amazing people, hopped on my first plane in 21 years and gone to Texas, and meet one of my greatest friends in person. Hell, it even made me start to draw humans again. It's so crazy thinking back on it and how it all happened. What started as just another video game for me to play turned into the reason why I am part of a group that even when we don't play Overwatch, we still talk to each other, joke around and perhaps even play other games. It's amazing that a video game did all of this. Which is why even with the toxic comments I receive, I will still play and still love this game. Nothing can stop that.

    Happy Anniversary, Overwatch! And a heartfelt thank you to all at Blizzard who worked hard to make this game. And a big thank you to all of the friends I made along the way. You are all awesome!

    And to all my watchers, I'm sorry that every drawing I've made recently are months apart and I thank you for putting up with me lol
    I'll be trying to draw more whenever I get the chance. Hopefully my tablet is more cooperative with me in the future too. I gotta practice drawing humans more xD
