Will Scarlet of Sherwood Forest is a fan-fiction retelling of Walt Disney's 1973 animated film, Robin Hood. Though it does have Robin Hood in it, the hero and narrator of this story is William Gamwell, or Will Scarlet, as his friends Robin Hood and Little John call him. When Will Scarlet was a young pup, he and his family were exiled from Prince John's castle after objecting to the prince's tyranny. When his father was arrested by the Sheriff of Nottingham for being unable to pay his taxes, Will Scarlet joined Robin Hood and Little John in hopes of getting back the tax money, freeing his father, and helping the destitute villagers. Along the way, he meets Joanna, daughter of Otto the blacksmith, as well as a childhood friend of Robin Hood, Maid Marian. In hopes of stealing back the tax money, Will disguises himself as an elderly nobleman known as The Red Baronet of Aberdeen. How long can Will Scarlet hold up his disguise before Prince John and his servants get wise? How will he win the heart of the strong, tomboyish and beautiful Joanna? And what about Robin Hood and Maid Marian? Romance, action, comedy, and thrills await in... Will Scarlet of Sherwood Forest!
