The word 'awesome' is overused, but it fits this time.
This is one of those images that takes your breath away.
Enough cliches, this image has grace, power and excitement. The bird is captured beautifully, the composition, never easy with this type of work, is wondrous and the exposure and dynamic range just spot on.
The bird swooping in from the right adds so much, even before it takes the attention.
But it's that gull (taking off? landing?) that, rightly and delightfully, takes centre stage.
I would be strongly tempted to crop the left edge of the photo, up to just before the bird that is disappearing out of the bottom of the frame. This would, IMHO, pull the balance of the image to the right, thereby strengthening the impression of movement of the centre stage bird.
That trivial issue aside, this is an impressive and beautiful image.
