Description Potamites Montanicola (Male)

A new species of lizard found in the Andes of Peru. Lives close to water. Discovered August 2012. Read more on it here: [link]

This is a competition piece for Bioillustration following their first prompt (Create an illustration featuring a species discovered after the year 2000). This one was a bit of a grind because there isn't much reference material available but good practice!

Really like the details you put in to show the scales' reflection. Not so sure about the glowing blue on its chin and throat though, since it's sitting on a pale stone

Thanks! The glowing blue is actually not reflected light, but the actual colour of the scales. Very vibrant lizard this one. Arguably the colours maybe a little saturated I guess hehe.
