Another Sketchbook misc. doodles page. The girl in the middle has the wide ankles because I was thinking of a "Chris Sanders" girl. Not as appealing as his, but they do have big legs, huh?Related content

I don't think of Sander's stuff so much in terms of thick ankles as just.. plump. The actual limbs have the same thickness, it's more of an even-ness between the circles of the limb-shapes and the circles around the joints, though the two are definitely seperate. (Sort of the opposite of the '
I really like that girl's action-pose in the upper right. What is it about female poses and always having the knees closer together than the ankles? It doesn't work as 'feminine' without it.
Also just wanted to say I love your style and the book, it's been one of the keystones in my animation learning.

The key word is ovals. They're not circles, they're not almond shaped, they're slight ovals. I don't know...that's the only science I can think to back up my cartoon girl eyes...

You know, I've never thought about Chris Sanders' girls having big ankles (it's not exactly the first thing that draws the eye in his drawings), but now that you mention it, it's true.
I like your take on it tho. Very curvy. I like the dude's face next to her too especially.
