There was so much talent behind the hand drawn animated movies! I used this as a reference when doing practices of Simba (I recreated frames 23 and 39). I wish they still did great drawn animated movies like The Lion King today.

Hi! Quick question, if you don't mind. Were you the only one who animated cub Simba? Did multiple people animate the same characters (excluding their older versions)?

I was one of about five animators who animated Young Simba.

That's amazing! How in the world did all of them manage to get the same character design down? Sorry for the barrage of questions XD

Model sheets and a supervising animator that went over the drawings.

You are a disney animator?
Wow! May I say you are a HUGE insperation to me! Your work is fun and beautiful, and animators like you give me inspiration in my everyday life : ) Thank you for making this movie! It is indubitably one of the most amazing movies ever created <3

oh my goodness...you are the animator of Simba?! That is so amazing! Well first of all, you did a terrific job animating him, but oh my gosh I never thought I'd get to meet you! Simba has been my favorite character since I don't even know when and he was my main inspiration to start drawing anything. I have come so far since then, but Simba was definitely a huge factor on my art. Thanks so much for animating him, and it is such an honor to know you just might see this comment.

Thanks so much for the nice comments. I didn't do ALL of Simba. Not even all of Young Simba. There were about 5 of us doing Young Simba. I was blessed to work on him and do some of the fun scenes of him though. Keep drawing from your heart!

I was looking through your gallery enjoying your Disney art, and it was a pretty amazing moment when I realised you were actually one of the animators of TLK. That's hands-down my favourite movie, and part of that is because of the wonderful art. So I wanted to say wow, you did an amazing job and thank you for making such a fantastic film.

Wow! This is so awesome, thanks for sharing!! We just saw TLK again in theatres in 3D, and it was such a great experience; the audience was both young and old, and everyone had a fantastic time. There was applause at the beginning and the end, and some places in the middle. Truly a work of art that movie.

These are seriously beautiful. I can never find much TLK lineart like this on the net (usually just model sheets etc). I'm working on lip syncing a lot on my animation course and these have given me so much inspiration for the expressions and mouth movement, so thank you!!
did you work on just the key frames or inbetweens too?

I love how amazingly expressive that cub-aged Simba is. I think I have you to thank for how I try to illustrate expression in my own art, due to watching this movie and others like Mulan again, and again, and again. The exasperation and frustration in each frame, and how drastically his expression changes....GWARH I love it. Thanks for sharing these....SO FUN!

what are those head/dial/bal notes under the frame numbers? Measurements? Some animation thing?
