Yet another 'nerf gun paint job' This NOT what Steampunk is about. It is about creating your own design of a gun. OK, use a nerf gun as a start point but at least add some mods too it ffs

did you have to take it apart to paint it?

Well you don't HAVE to but i did. It's the only way to guarantee none of the yellow plastic is showing. It also removes the need to mask each section because I base paint with spray paint.

Thanks for the tips! I've decided I'm going to take mine apart too, hopefully I can put it back together xD

take pictures as you remove the pieces! then you can just scroll backwards through them when putting it all back together. you'll know exactly what goes where and when.

Great look! How'd you get the scratches/dents in it? I'm working on one for a costume and I'm hoping to put "dents" here and there, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

I usually use random tools (hammer, screwdriver, rasp, etc.) but the plastic is too brittle so I broke out the dremel and used a sanding drum.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks! I was originally gonna use something like a wood burner to slightly melt in the dents, but I was kinda nervous about how that would turn out

How'd you get the 'nerf' word off of the side?

a good deal of sanding did the trick.

That's pretty good. I'm modding a nerf recon rightnow. How do you get that old weathered look?
