Kamiko just couldn't believe it. No matter what may have happened, from her and her adventuring friends slaying a vicious dragon, to closing a demon tear, saving the nation from hellish invasion, she just couldn't believe that she was named Archmage...

A loud roar echoed throughout the valley she was waiting in, ending her thoughts. Steeling her resolve, Kamiko rises from the seat in front of the campfire and looks out from the vantage point she was waiting on. Her doubts would have to wait.

In the air, the source of the bestial roars became visible as the flying vanguard force of the Pyrsk’re Triumvirate flew on the backs of their famed manticore mounts. The Winged Reavers. Three years ago, the Triumvirate declared war on their neighbors, seeking to conquer them in preparation for an invasion of their true rivals, the Mage Republic of Y’tellan, Kamiko’s home.

She scowled, knowing full well their target in this region and their purpose here. The river below leads straight to the delta it would eventually split into, and on the shores of that delta is the city of Greenview, the largest center of farming and agriculture on the continent. The ravagers were here for a very obvious reason. To attack the farmsteads, kill the farmers, slaughter the livestock, and burn the crops. Their goal was to start a famine, weakening Y’tellan before the war officially started.

Grabbing her staff, Prominence, in hand, Kamiko speaks out an incantation and takes to the sky. As she approached the first of the flying invaders, the fire her staff always manifested changed from its normal yellow and orange color to a bright blue as Kamiko herself channeled her magic through it. The very next moment, a stream of fire erupts from her, sailing through the air and catching her foes ablaze.

She, Kamiko Moriyama, the youngest Archmage of her time, vowed to always protect her home.
