Description Well this is the pride and joy of the now defunct French ocean fleet. The S.S. Normandie, a jewel of Art Deco design with one of the cleanest profiles of any ship on the sea.

Sadly she cought fire during outfitting on the onset of WWII and she capsized at dock; she was declared a total loss and was sent to be scrapped.

(Please note that this profile is of the ship before her refurbishment to compete with the Queen Mary. Therefore she lacks her aft deck house in this picture.)

Gorgious ship. Sad end. Like the real Titanic (which is shown in an old newsreel in A NIGHT TO REMEMBER and her wreckage is shown in Cameron's TITANIC), Normandie appeared in one film that I know of. Hitchcock included a shot of her on her side after her fire in SABATEUR (1942).
