This is the world map for Tortall, a universe/ country created (and owned) by Tamora Pierce. (yes, disclaimer, I don't own it, I'm not making money from it, etc.)
I had to do a project for my GIS class, and displaying the whole world of Tortall seemed like more fun than yet another precipitation distribution map. This screen shot has Alanna's story digitized on it- although in the live GIS it's time stepped so it plays out over time instead of appearing all at once.
I like Alanna. She's cool. (The others are cool too- I was a die- hard Daine fan when I was young; I've warmed up to Kel as I've got older, but for me Alanna is a solidly fun character)
