This is an image I did for the UK Artbook, "Dreams" due for release shortly ~ I finished it about 3 months ago now and have been wanting to upload this since then XD;

Lineart done in Flash MX, colouring done in Photoshop. Recently I had learned the basics of how to do grass by hand (i.e without using a cheaty cheaty grass brush) for a previous image, and this time I have learned how to paint in basic flowers. Both of these skills are invaluable to any artist dabbling in backgrounds (something which I'd rarely done before as mostly a 'character based' artist) and whilst I know it's not perfect, I am improving ^_^

I like the colours in this piece, they are a little different to colours I would normally choose (never done silver hair before) and I hope I managed to capture the blue skies and golden fields of crops that I see at this time of the year in the English countryside. I haven't done an image with such movement in the hair for a long while, and I enjoyed studying the little details of dragonflies ^^

So overall, whilst I know this image isn't perfect, I am happy with the improvements I've made and hopefully I will continue improving my background skills after this I might try putting more colours in the grass and see how that looks.

'Dreams' is a full colour book of 15 UK artists, as soon as I know which events it will be for sale at I will post up the details ^^
